204R with a 39gr BK. #1 was 197yds thru both shoulders leaving a nice exit.
#2 was 239yds behind the front shoulder,, thru the neck,, & in the headbone!! I found it piled up just like this. It had a nice orange to it.

EDITED TO REFLECT PROPER YARDAGE :eyebrownod:
Where you from HaMer?.......shooting Prairie Dogs :highclap:
It's always fun to put them where you want them when the targets are small but the ranges long. :congrats:
Here's a picture from one of the annual Digger Wars shoots for Belding ground squirrels I host in the spring on the years I feel up to it. Beldings stand about 6" tall when sitting up on average, but the years new young can be only about 1/2-2/3's adult size when they first come up. This one was taken at 309 yards with one of my 17 HMR's. We have taken them as far as around 350 with the Hummer's, and to 687 yards with our wildcat centerfires. Can't see them any farther away than that in the Medicago though.

I dont think I can even POINT that far
FnF-- Those are good old Ohio groundhogs. :eyebrownod: I shot a couple over 11lbs last year & one was 12 1/2lbs. They would run the pdogs off. If you ever get curious & look on a map I'm 20 minutes south of Canton on I77. Canton is home of the Football HOF. I live a few minutes south of vvarmitr.
Ladobe-- Those would be smaller than a praire dog then!! 687yds on a 6" target is some serious shootin!! Congrats on that shot for sure. :congrats:
WTG Buddy. How many does that make ya so far? Love the "orange" one. :laf:
Ladobe: We'd have you come over & show us how it's done, but it's hard to get a good 500yd shot. My longest is 423yds & I had to shoot from one farm over on another. :nono:

:highclap:
I've only taken a few photo's of game but this young groundhog was a little unusual... blonde almost white.
Shot a few summers ago with my 222 Rem, at 150 yards:

Is that the one you shot in the field by the lake chet?
He sure is purdy.....
Yep, that's the one, Bop.
Up to 3 VV. And I lost 2 the same day. And you??
ch1-- Cool lookin piggie!!
Great pics guys. As soon as I get over the crud me and Lil-man are going to start busting some.
Show us some pics when you do!! :eyebrownod:
Here's a weird g'hog I shot w/ my 222 too.

I would have say it's a piebald. Only one I've ever seen & never heard of one before.
It looks like it's lacking hair, but its not. It was very well furred & healthy. Where you see white the fur is white.
HaMeR: still at 2.
Wow Chet,i have killed alote of ground hogs but never one in that color.I have never even heard of one like that.Great pic man.
VV,what caliber is that BVSS your shooting?I used to have one like that in a 220 swift.I am still kicking myself for getting rid of that one.My longest groundhog with it was 687yds off sandbags.
vvarmitr,
That's one strange looking woodchuck.... fur sure. :shck: :congrats:
The old 222 is one of my favorite cartridges, a fine chuck and coyote getter for where I hunt.
QuoteI have never even heard of one like that.
Fuzz,
Me either till that day. A week or so later I shot two more blondies and about half a dozen "standard" groundhogs, all from the same 10 acre field.
The two others were blown up, a little too mushy to be photogenic.
Interesting enough only a few months earlier, Bop and I had called in a blonde coyote... he has that one mounted on his wall.
Chet
You mean this one Chet?

Fuzz: Mine's in 22Varminter (22-250). If your 220Swift shot like mine does heck even I'll kick ya. :eyebrownod:
That's one that was made before Savage reintroduced the short-action. That gun & I have "Zig-Zag." :sneer: When I Zig, it Zags, & we have shot several bug-hole groups. :eyebrow: It still has that horrible trigger. :rolleye: Someday I'll change it ... someday. :innocentwhistle:
Chet: I'm a lover of the 222 too also. My very first gun was a 222. The one I have now is a Rem' 722 w/ a V16 Weaver w/ the dot. I put a legal dose of 10X under a 40gr V-Max lite w/a 6 1/2 Rem. primer. 3500fps! G'hogs see me coming w/ it & this is what they do ...
(http://www.hunt101.com/img/318666.jpg) :laf:
222 too also :laf: :laf:
Yeah VV,mine was a pre accutrigger model single shot.I shot sevral groups right at 1/2in.I still miss that rifle.I kinda had to let it go though.I had a baby on yhe way and needed the money.I sold it to one of my friends and he wont part with it.Oh well,at least it went to a good owner.

:argh: I have a friend :iroll: like that too. He has
my 17Rem Classic. :madd:
The bass turd! :noway: Well at least he isn't wearing it out. He's into karaokes now.
I'm glad I amuse you Jimbo. :eyebrownod:
I wish we had prarie dogs. I would love to get after them. Those would be great to break my CZ 204 in on.
Stateline...
Since we don't have p-dogs in TN, I made you a target to practice on. Just print it out and have at it... :laf:
BTW < I shot this photo in either Texas or Arizona, can't remember which.
I shot a couple more today with the 204.
How does everybody feel about blood & guts??
I'll only post em if it's OK.
I dont have a problem with it......but then again I never did.
OK!! :eyebrownod:
#1-- 108yds.
#2-- 184yds
Both were shot with a 39gr BlitzKing that starts out at 3850fps. The 1st pic was a small one & that is the exit. This 2nd one was about an 8-9lber & was SHOT IN THE BACK!! :roflmao: This is the entrance. I take pictures of them the way they were laying when I walk up to them. It just seems to add some realism I think. :eyebrow: :laf:
Ya know I really wish you wouldn't post that stuff on here. :rolleye:
This is a hunting and fishing forum. We have bingo players, teletubby fans, and do-right liberals.
What were you thinking :roflmao:
I was thinking this was NOT PREDATOR MASTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!
:roflmao: :roflmao:
When I find a Forum I like,,, I ask 1st. It doesn't bother me either. But since I'm just a Welcomed Guest here,, a little courtesy is in order. Thanks for supporting "bullet performance pictures"!! :eyebrownod:

It bothers me terribly..........that's like shooting a "wet" bitch.............. :roflmao: :roflmao:
And no I don't want to argue about that.........I shoot whenever and whatever is legal...... :yoyo:
:roflmao: I read that post!! Some of those guys belong over on coyotegawds.com. :roflmao: I shoot them when I see them. Period.
I did let a real nice red fox go by this AM whilst turkey hunting. There is a State regulated season on them. :readthis:
That post going on over there is hilarious..............same story, different year......... :eyebrownod:
:laf: You're right.
I set up on a gas line along a ridge this AM turkey hunting. No birds came my way but I got to hear a bunch of gobblin & shootin tho. At least somebody scored. :laf:
Anywho,, from the ridge I was on I can see the next one over & the valley in between is about 500 feet deep. I know there are coyotes in there too. I've just not gotten any shots on them out there. From 10:30 to right around 11:30 I listened to the coyote pups down in there whining & raising a ruckus. Thats a 1st for me & I think it was a cool listening experience.
Glen,
Your luck sounds like mine, except I had deer rather than coyotes. No turkey today, but maybe tomorrow. I had to set up in the woods and not along the open field like I wanted. The farmer that owns the field is assigning days when people can hunt. I guess there have been some problems. I just went to the next house and got permission to hunt the woods next to the open field. Tomorrow I might set up RIGHT along the open field in the front. In the back there was a very good sized Tom. Problem is that he had a couple of hens with him and he was not interested in crossing a couple of cut-outs just to get another one.
Jerry
Jerry-- Yesterday I thought I had a small area to myself also. But right at 6:08 somebody was on top of the ridge behind me & wouldn't shut up!! He called for the 1st 20 minutes almost nonstop. Then walked the ridge behind me calling. Then went just over to the other side & called back to where he started. By 6:45 I could hear him crossing the open hayfield above me & he was still squawkin on that diaphram!! But at least he was leaving. :laf: Shortly after that I watched the fox come thru. :eyebrownod:
It's terrible when a farmer has to do that. :rolleye: The next step is denying everybody for a year or two then starting all over with a new bunch of guys. Hopefully he doesn't lump you in with the troublemakers.
If I make it out tomorrow I'm gonna hit the woods. I aint got nuthin to lose but a little sanity!! :madd:
:roflmao:
Best of Luck Jerry!!
5 years ago this 21lb 10" bearded Tom came from this property. My 1st!! :eyebrow: And so far only. :madd:
