From 1959 to the 1980's we used to check in tails as proof of kill on club hunts. These pictures are from the 1970's to mid 80's. As you can see, I am somewhat younger..lol I never took alot of pictures unfortunately but here's 5 pictures with approximately 130 tails, plus another of my California rig. Again, the old school is the best school...lol. Enjoy!

I hope I didn't upset anyone by showing just tails, but thats the way it was back then. Something I could add of interest would be using 8 tracks to call the animals, so much for the sound quality lol. If you ever get the book Varmint Callers Digest and look through it you'll see more pics of tail days from the 60s.
We had hand calls but didn't need to use them much at the time. Now days I believe a hand call would work better in some cases.

onecoyote, I for one am certainly not offended by your postings.  You are a Pioneer of the sport sir!  Your giving us a glimpse into your past is pretty inspiring to say the least.   I believe it would be safe to say, and many will agree, that you've probably forgotten more about coyote hunting than most of us will ever know!
So please post away.  You got a fan here.

If tails were all you needed to be legal in the contest then that's the way it is. We like pictures cause there's less reading involved!!  :laf:

Thanks for sharing.

Neat picture that brings back memories of when they had a bounty on fox in Ohio.  You had to take the four feet to the county sheriff's office.  He kept the feet and gave you $5.  Heck of a deal.
