This was pretty amazing considering the scope reticle was bigger then the vitals on the Antelope.

I wonder how many wounded antelope came before that DRT.    :wo:    A thousand yards is a little too long for a hunting situation me thinks.

Im with you Semp, thats not very smart and a easy way to make something suffer.

I think for the average Wal-Mart hunter that sights his rifle in every year right before hunting season this shot should be unthinkable and not attempted but their are Many hunters/shooters that prep for that very situation. There are alot of variables that come into play at a Grand, the wind, spin drift and even the curvature of the earth. The most critical being the wind, It could be blowing from 3 or 4 directions at that distance.

Young son and I shoot out to 800yds on plywood animal cutouts pretty regular but after hundreds if not thousands of rounds downrage I would not feel comfortable taking that shot on a Game animal at a grand.

I personally think that the so called hunting industry is running out of things to film and commercialize so now they are scraping the bottom of the proverbial barrel by promoting taking shots at distances that shouldnt be attempted by the average hunter/shooter.

While I agree it was a sweet shot. The ethics of taking such shots on a regualr bassis even if you prep for it is questionable at best and down right unethical at worst.
Don't bring shame to our sport.

He died for dipshits too.

I shoot out to 500 to 600 yards at targets and I am pretty consistant but Ive actually never shot at anything out to a grand.

I agree the long shot is not for everyone only those that prep for it , with the weapons and ammunition today you are seeing a lot more of this, I practice out to 300 yards and that's as far as I would want to shoot Game but I think it is the personal ability of the shooter to make these 1000 yard shots and what a great talent to have.  :bowingsmilie: cc
