Has anybody tried these calls yet? If so what is your take on them?

I picked one up at a local shop here for $7.00. Not a bad price considering single call packs around here run right around $10 on the average.

My 1st impression is that there is no vibration. I bought the double reed straight cut #1172. It seems to be a little higher pitch than I like but I get consistency out of it. Should work on windy days.

I find no need to trim it to fit. It's a small call.

Very little air is required.

I can't purr very good with a diaphragm but this call makes that much easier. Should be helpful this Fall.

Yelps have a little rasp to them with low air & a higher pitch as the air & volume increases like most other calls.

Plus I can actually howl with this one.

Any other insight on these calls would be appreciated.

My personal experience wth diaphragm calls is if you find a line that makes the sounds you like, those are the ones for you. Maybe it's mouth size, or shape, or tongue contortion, I don't know. If it works for you, that's your confidence call. I use a Will Primos and a couple of Knight&Hale calls that are my favorites.

Jim- Don't let it get too far back. I think I have better pitch and volume control if I keep the call near the front of my mouth

I used them and liked 'em.  They work on Iowa toms!

Jim-- I think it's all about that rubber dome that stops the vibration. It seals really well against the roof of my mouth.

shad-- I feel I have better control the further back I keep it. I think it's all about the shape of ones mouth roof as to where it fits just right.

nail-- I'll be trying this one out this Fall around here. Hoping it works as well as I think it will. Anxious for Spring now!!

One of the best mouth calls I've used was made by KeeKee.   They were super easy to blow and sounded great.  Wish he was still making them.

I haven't tried the dome calls yet.  Might have to give one a try.

Interesting concept. Not sure what the reasoning is unless it is to help with the seal. I always went for what was cheap, as long as it was a double or triple reed and preferably something raspy.

Let us know how you like them.

Mike-- The packaging says the dome was created to automatically position the call correctly in your mouth & that it creates it's own sound chamber.  I don't know how it works for sure. I just know I like the call & will be trying some of their cut reeds in this design. Mine just has the 2 flat reeds. At $7.00 each they are reasonably priced for my area.

I have a couple Kee calls here & like them too Semp. I agree they are very easy to blow. Consistent sounds IMHO,, are easier with a call that requires less air to operate.

I "disappeared" this AM at work for a couple minutes & snuck around a barn over towards the woods. I did a little soft yelping & didn't get any response. So I yelped louder & I heard someone say,, "Is that a turkey making those noises?".  So I yelped louder & all the noise on the roof stopped.  :laf: :laf:  It only took about a 1/2 minute for the boss to holler at me to get back on the roof.  :alscalls: :alscalls:

It fooled someone!!  :yoyo: :yoyo:

Ive used Glenn and really like them i use to always hit bad notes and have to position the call several times to find the sweet spot. But with these they work the first time and sound great.

I've noticed that as well. I just need to stop getting so excited when I call to better control my rhythm & cadence.  :laf: :laf:
