Title: More Surgery
Post by: JohnP on July 24, 2019, 09:29:26 AM
Two years ago wife had back surgery on her lower back, all kind of metal in her back and a 10" scar to put it all in.  Doc said that her upper back was bad also but it would take about 10 years before it became an issue.  She figured heck at our age we probably don't have ten years left.  She went in for a routine exam Monday and they took x-rays, MRI and did a scan.  Doc said back needs another operation as the deterioration has progressed faster then thought.  But that wasn't the bad news they found a problem in her neck, can't spell it nor pronounce it.  Doc said if it isn't operated on immediately could cause permanent paralysis or even death if she would fall or jolt her neck sharply.  The back operation is put on hold for now as the doc said that both operations at once is to much.  We are leaving for the hospital shortly.

More surgery is always bad news.  At least they caught it early enough.  Wishing all the best for your wife.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR CONCERN. Finally made it home after a five day stay in the hospital.  The drive from Tucson to our home takes about one and a half hours.  But because of her pain I drove slower than the 75MPH posted on the Interstate and we had to stop once to let her get re-arraigned in the car so it was about a two hour drive.   She has a rather stiff and cumbersome brace around her neck and doc said at least six weeks before it can come off.  Once it is off she will be back in the hospital for her back operation.  We have a home health nurse that will visit three times a week so that should be a big help.

Once again Thank You all for your concern.
