Title: First Day Early Coues Season
Post by: JohnP on October 27, 2017, 12:05:06 PM
Just got a call from Mandy, she is on the mountain with her husband.  Two shots, two coues down.  She wouldn't give me any details except that it would probably take them about two or maybe even three hours to get home so they must be pretty high up on the mountain.  I'll post some pictures when I get them.  Oh yeah she did say "those rifles shoot pretty good, you must ya shot all the misses out of them."

That's a zinger!  :congrats:  She's smart on top of all else.

Great photo.  That's a BIG Coues from all that I've heard.

John,

It really looks like the 'good looking' apple didn't fall far from the tree.  Just like her dad.

Yeah it is, mostly straight up and down and rocky.  I can't do it anymore and don't even apply for a coues tag.  Next year I may put in for mule deer as I now have a CHAMP permit which allows me to hunt and shoot from a vehicle.  It really bothers me that it has come to that but I can't walk more than a step or two without falling down so as the young ones say it is what it is.

[L] John there are moree deer shot from a vehicle up here than anything and they don't got licenses to do it.
Just getting out is about 90+% of the entertainment of hunting so get out anyway you can.
Falling ain't so bad it's the Fn landings that can be rough.

Tell Mandy congrats!
And as far as that CHAMP permit, seize the moment and get out there!!!

Kinda like the guy who jumped off the Empire State Building.  As he was passing each window the people heard him saying "so far, so good."
