HUDSON â€" An emu was reunited with its owner after a brief trip to Benson's Park on Saturday.

Police were called to the former Benson's Animal Park at about 9:30 a.m. for the reported sighting of a large, exotic bird believed to be an emu, according to Lt. David Bianchi of the Hudson Police Department.

The Hudson animal control officer and other officers were directed to a trail in the south west part of the park.

They saw a large bird follow an unidentified woman out into the common area, Bianchi said.

The bird, later identified as an emu named Victoria, was friendly and was accustomed to human contact.

Victoria's owner lives on Pelham Road, adjacent to the Benson property. and picked her up.
