Nice looking birds.  If any of them would have been in my range I would have shot.    

I was in Columbus yesterday rather than being in the field.  I went out this morning and actually think someone was in the woods with a couple of Gobbler calls.  They started about 6:15 and went pretty much non-stop for almost an hour.  Either there was a flock of Toms in the woods or some jerks with calls.  Either way, I will find out in the morning when I set up in the woods.  I only saw one bird this morning and it was at the other end of the field - came out, stretched his or her neck out to where it looked like a goose, dropped it's head, and totally beat feet across the field to the other woods.  I knew they could run, but have never seen one go like this before.

Too bad you couldn't make it out yesterday Jerry. I know you woulda liked to. There's nothing wrong with taking a Jake. I just prefer to go after the Toms til the end of the season is all. They started gobbling this AM @ 5:55 again. The sun wasn't even up & I wasn't to my setup spot yet. It ended up being a 25 minute walk & not a 15 minute walk.    Oh well. As near as I could figure there were 4 Toms & 3 Jakes around me.  I was just set up way wrong again.    I watched a red fox stalk a flock one evening. The fox was on the tail of one til it started flapping it's wings & found another gear!! I swear it's head snapped back & grass & dirt started flying up behind it in a roostertail!!!  :roflmao: :roflmao:  The fox just gave up.

This is a 750 acre farm I have permission to hunt on for the last 7-8 years. Everything inside the red line plus another 30 or so acres at the bottom of the screen that were cut off.

Yellow X's are the 5 primary roosts. At roost #1 I let the nice 5-6" Jake walk @ 6:30AM Monday.

Purple X is where I parked the truck on day 1 & the green line is the day 1 foot travel route. Over by roost 2 is where I got the pics & videos. This was a 10 minute walk at least.   

Blue X & line is where I parked on day 2 & my travel path. I wasn't familiar with the trail out around to the right & stopped way too short of where I needed to be.  I stopped well before the hard left in the blue line & the Toms were gobbling on the #3 roost several hundred yrds away. I know that area a lot better now tho.  The little blue fish hook in the middle of the screen is where I spent 1 1/2hrs hoping to catch them working the edge of the pasture field. I wasn't set up that far back in really. I just suck at marking these maps!! 

The black X's are where I was setting when I shot 2 coyotes. The brown X's are where the coyotes were.

this is kinda rough but I had fun trying to give you an idea of what my area looks like & how I played it.

Yeah I had to shrink it done a good bit to get it to post.  I'm still learning. I aint no puter dude for sure.

Went to Dads this evening & borrowed his chair blind. While we were there he talked Diane into carrying his 28ga with a red dot scope. We will be close enough together that I can peel off a quick followup if needed. 

Now if I'm not too sick to get out of bed in a couple hours.

Damn sinus infection whipped my silly ass to the ground. This one is like having the flu. Fever & body aches without the puking & the craps plus I can hardly breathe. At best I slept 2 hrs straight the last two nights. I will be out tomorrow AM no matter what.

2 tablespoons of honey & 1/5 Jim Beam. That is not homemade Bill, it's just home mixed..... And Glenn, when you use his homemade remedy you see two birds, but only one shows up in the picture.... :roflmao:

I had a sinus infection so bad one time the the whole roof of my mouth, including all my top teeth and gumbs were numb.

The doctor said it was caused by the infection and the swelling pushing down on nerves. Man I was freaking out  :shck:
