I don't get out much with my father much anymore to do some fishing, but we sure tied into them last evening.  It was a blast!  They were in the shallows of the pond, in about 2-3 feet of water.  They were as agressive as I have ever seen them.  Sometimes the bait didn't even have a chance to hit the bottom before they hit it.

My father:

And the mess of fish

Most of them had eggs in them, so they must be getting close to making nests, which explains why they were so agressive.

Semp,

We were using shad sides (the real stuff, not the processed stuff from walmart), some "Wicked Sticky" brand stink bait, and a homemade hotdog/garlic powder/koolaid mixture.

They were swallowing the hook every time on the shad sides.  We ran out of hooks when using the shad sides.  If they swallow the hook, we just unhook the leader and clip another one on.  Then when we clean fish, we just dig out the hook and clean em off for the next time we will use them.

Barry - good ole rod and reel for these guys.  Dad was actually using an ultralight rod & reel cause he likes to let em fight.
