Title: Odd visitor in my shop last night
Post by: FinsnFur on September 15, 2020, 11:52:26 AM
Setting on a stool watching the grill when this fella wondered in.
Very odd. Acted like he wanted me to follow him.
My feeder is probably 100yds away in front of the house.

Jim - Do you feed them?  We had many when we lived on the mountainside.  Was not unusual to go through a gallon of feed in a week. We had one that would buzz the kitchen window when the feeder he used was empty, had another that would come to the feeder while I was holding it.  Hate living in suburbia now.  Went looking at another place in the county yesterday, wife said no way is she moving again at our age -- I just grinned at her and said "promise."

I do feed them John. I feel like I have one that comes every year and he is hogging or overly protective of the feeder. I keep seeing others come to check it out and then one comes down from the tree outta no where and runs it off. Like hes protecting the feeder.
So I put up another one about 20 feet away.
Then to blow my theory out of the water, a couple weeks ago, I saw two of them on the original feeder slurping next to each other.
During the summer I'll have to fill the one feeder every other day.
Love watching those crazy hummers.
