The canyon to the north of us is a hummingbird reserve and people from all over the world come to visit and take pictures. Several of the Universities have also been doing research. At times I do believe we have as many in our backyard as the preserve does. They will start to migrate south pretty soon. Early October we take down all the feeders (12). We will normally have one or two that hang around, if still here by mid October we put up a feeder and they will winter over. I have one that if I hold the feeder will come and perch on my wrist and feed, another buzzs the kitchen window when "his" feeder is empty
