Bad Ice Storm in West KY

As I sit here I can here tree limbs crashing in the woods. I just had a huge limb come down and miss the house about 15 feet. If we don't lose power tonight it will be a miracle. The local TV news is calling it the winter storm of the decade.

Hope everyone is doing OK. I'm going to shut the 'puter down and get more logs for the fireplace.

Prayed for yall tonight Semp....we are getting some ice since about 3:30 but nothing like you folks have got.
We are having a lot of wrecks on the roads....my daughters girlfriends grandparents car got hit by a big rig on I77 this evening....I hope they are OK I guess it is gonna be on the news.

Take care Semp, My dad is near Evansville and he said south of him is BAD. power outages and all. If you go out tonight DONT!! Stayiong home is a beter option

They had Paducah Ky on the Today show. Big pine trees were snapping off.

We still have power and internet at work, but I lost the cable and internet at the house about 6:40 yesterday (Tuesday) evening. Then the power went out about 2:00 this morning. Some of the guys at work have been without power for over 24 hours now and its anybody's guess when it will be restored. The good news is, it was supposed to be a lot worse. God bless those linemen!

We got our power back yesterday (Wednesday) about one minute after I dragged the generator out of the garage and hooked it up to the frig! Still no internet though. Alot of folks in the area are still without electricity, and may be for several more days. Trees and wires are down everywhere. I lost the top out of a shaggy birch in my back yard, but consider myself blessed. I know many people were not so lucky.
I took a couple of pictures of the ice on the trees in the back yard.

This guy looks cold.

I talked to him today. He said he is okay. Lots of trees down, but no damage to his house. No electricity, but he has a gas fireplace and is staying reasonably warm with that. Kentucky is a mess right now!

It didn't get too bad here. We were right on the edge of it. I lost phone and internet for a couple days but everythings back on today.

Glad to hear you guys are all OK!! We had the same storm come through here. My power has been off for two days. Just came back on this evening Thursday about 6:30 PM!!

if my power went out I think I'd have to drag a 55 gal drum into the living room and build a fire in it.

I got power back finally.

I ran the fireplace non stop for 4 days. I finally figured a way to hook up the generator directly to the 240 volt lines coming in to the house. I could run my gas heat then. It has been a long week. There are still lots of people with out power here.

Hope everyone else did OK through this crazy weather.

Things will get back to normal I'm sure. It just takes time and lots of money.

The good thing this time is no trees hit the house.

If anyone is needing firewood, I got lots of it free for the taking. Bring your chainsaw and a truck.

I do know how ya feel I never got all the trees cut up from when Ike hit here last fall and we lost a couple more in the last couple weeks
