My youngest son (250Savage) wants to give away his rifle stock that was recently used in South Africa and Zimbabwe.

He has another wood stock (with a much needed longer LOP) that we're refinishing and adding a Williams one-piece Oberndorf bottom metal.

As he no longer needs this particular stock, he wants to make it available to a youth or lady member of FnF.

The stock fits a right handed post-'64 Winchester Model 70 XTR Featherweight Long Action. The stock has been cut down to 12 1/2 LOP (including 1" Decelerator pad), has aluminum pillars installed, and has been glass bedded. He's including the OEM 2-piece bottom metal and center receiver screw.

The barrel channel can easily be opened to accommodate a standard/sporter barrel contour.

The stock having been used vigorously in Africa does show signs of being hunted! Several dings and scratches abound, however, the stock is structurally sound and the owner could obviously refinish if so desired. In fact, this would make an excellent father/son (or daughter) project, and could easily be completed before deer season!

This obviously would be an excellent economical/affordable way for Dad to provide Jr. (or the little princess) a rifle for deer season. If you already have a long action post-'64 M70, just yank off your stock and slap on the new youth sized stock. Managed recoil ammunition for .270 and 30-06 are readily available from Remington. Makes the felt recoil similar to a .243
Or if you roll your own, even better! A light recoiling 25-06 or 7x57 is a pleasure to shot (even for kids) and works phenomenally on deer.

Again, this is FREE.

Only caveat is that pictures of the youth (or lady) with their rifle must be posted on FnF by Thanksgiving. Pictures showing them utilizing the rifle (shooting range or hunting) would be a real plus!

That was generous of your son and would help make some lad or lass a nice rifle.   :congrats:

Very stand up thing to do.:congrats: I hope it goes to someone deserving and they get to make memories with it the same as your son :yoyo:
Don't bring shame to our sport.

He died for dipshits too.

I'm surprised no one has taken 250Savage up on his offer.

But then again it's pretty quiet around here this time of year.
