Title: Frost flowers/feathers
Post by: coyote101 on December 01, 2017, 04:30:19 PM
I saw some frost flowers this morning after turkey hunting. One was especially interesting.

These things always fascinate me.

This one was like no other I have ever seen. It looked very light and feathery.

They are pretty fragile and I was worried it would fall apart if I moved it, so I got a good close up first.

Then I picked it up to discover it actually was a frost covered downy white feather. I have no idea what it came from but it sure was beautiful mixed in with the frost flowers. Isn't nature something?

Pat, Those things are fabulous, and I would never have known about them if you had not posted pics of them.  The frosted feather is the best yet.

The feather is sure enough a cool one.  I haven't seen any down here yet, it's still warming up by the time I get out of bed  :laf:

We surely don't have them out here, at least not in my part of the desert.
