I think you should video yourself getting a big birds nest with it and then shoot it multiple times beat it with a hammer set it on fire and run it over, I bet it would go viral!  :innocentwhistle: :highclap:

I WIShhhhhhh you knew how close that was to actually happening. :alscalls: I swear!
But I thought I might as well let someone else try to get some good out of it instead. :laf:

Got to agree with the "ya get what ya pay for" thinking. I hated baitcaster till I got one that cost more than 100 bucks. That one changed my mind.

LOL Slag I gotta think that if I hated them I sure as L wouldnt turn around and spend a 100 bucks on another one. What was the one that changed your mind? Lets see a pic of this gem.

After having not used a baitcaster for nearly 30yrs this one peeled line off like a pro was using it!!

Haven't put the spinner on the other rod yet. Too busy trying to catch grass bass with a 2" red & white topwater bobber lure.  :laf: :laf:

I didn't pay 100 bucks for it. I got it on clearance and used a gift card.

It was a pfleuger patriarch. I will see if I can get a pic of it on here.

Jimbo you might want to give that reel aNother shot after you watch this video!

Todays reels are hard to backlash if you use the backlash drag. I set mine right about 50%. I can go as low as 25% on the backlash drag before I have any problems.  I must need more practice.

I had a friend suggest the tape idea. Tried it and it really helped me get the hang of baitcasters. Still back lashed a little but not nearly as bad and way easier to clear. If I hooked into a line eater the tape came right out as the line was pulled out.

Never tried that trick. I still like the wrist roll the best but I dont even do that any more.
HaMeR's right, it's tough to backlash with todays baitcasters. They have come a long ways and have some nice adjustments you can make on them with the magnetic backlash drag.

There's a lot to consider with baitcasters. The tip whip, wind, lure weight, rod stiffness. But the magnetic spool drag really slows the spool down with more control.

Who all remembers the older Penn reels that used to burn your thumb after 3 or 4 hours of casting?  :laf: :laf:
