Title: November Stripers
Post by: Dave on November 20, 2011, 12:05:35 PM
Here are a few bass I picked up out of the surf in N Jersey late last night.  The bigger one is 36 inches and probably 19 to 20 lbs

The stomach was tight on the second fish, so I opened it and found it full of sand eels.  Don't know what she was thinking trying to fit a little more down there, but that was a critical mistake!

Four of us went and we caught maybe 8 fish b/e 9pm to midnight.  I'm sure the massive schools were feeding a few hundred yds off the beach, but we just couldn't get to them

Cool, and thanks for sharing!  :congrats:

Is that what the schools are doing in there, feeding on those sand eels? And if so what do you run for lure or bait? And how many ya allowed to catch?

Todd, the way I understand it, the schools are moving south from the New England area, following bait.  Right now they're feeding on sand eels, but they also get on bunker/mullet/spot and the like.  We were throwing needlefish plugs, which are long and thin, and similar looking to a sand eel.
There is a two fish limit, with a min size of 28".
