Finally got my son to slow down long enough to load the pic's from his camera! It was a really memorable hunt for me as we have slown way down in turkey hunting over the last few year's for what ever reason...I wont say it's easy by any mean's but we have been very fortunate to kill an awful lot of birds over the year's but this is the first double he and I have shot together! So it's very special to me!
It started out kinda slow on Sat. (Opening day) With my son's allergy's it was kinda diffuclt to set up the way I wanted so since he was blowing snot and DNA all over the place we decided to set up In one of my shooting houses that overlook's a large hay field. With the Prettyboy and prettygirl Decoy and several Sceery decoys in place we sat back to wait on daylight to see if any had roosted in a nearby treeline and it didnt take long before they started hammering away and I looked at Colt (My boy) and told him that it looked like our lucky day cause there were birds gobbling all over us but just like last year when they pitched it was like we werent in the world...They didnt pay the decoy's or the calling any attention and Colt reminded me to shoot before I talked about how lucky we were So as not to jynx us! Well ,We had a good hunt and saw a ton of bird's and had a gaggle of jakes come bouncing throught he decoy's but nothing that we wanted to shoot so we decided since there were so many birds gobbling we would try the same spot on Easter.

This day started out a little different as soon as it started getting light we heard about 15 or 16 birds gobbling and as soon as the flydown started we had 4 mature birds land in the decoy's as well as a bunch of hen's! Well........I should have gone over this on sat while we were doing nothing but it didnt come to mind at the time. I told young son we would shoot on 0....I know you guy's know what I mean 3,2,BOOM!.....0???Right? Well he says lets do 543 and so on, Well I told him if he starts counting at 5 the shooting will be over with by the time he get through with his math so it didnt take long for him to see it my way! Anyway the pic's tell the tale! we actually sat in the blind for about 2 hours after the stomping working several big tom's into frenzy's. :yoyo: :yoyo:

Nothing better than a good hunt with your kid!!!
