I would like to hear about your kayaks. Brand, pros, cons & would you buy that particular one again? And if not,, simply put,, why not?

My intended uses are a shallow river & lakes. I don't have any desire to hit the Ohio River that is about 50 minutes away when I have 1000's of acres of lakes & many miles of the Tuscarawas River at my doorstep. I'll also be hitting the no wake zones at the bigger lakes.

Oh, no.  It looks like Kayak 2020 fever has struck Glen.  Jim you need to offer him an immunization real quick.

It starts out with just a kayak, and then before you know it you're buying a Kimber and then molding your own baits!

HaMeR

Yeah that aint happenin!!  :naughty:

Just been thinking about a kayak these past couple summers is all. Im getting to the point where I won't be working much longer & would like to fish more often. Especially the mornings & I'm not overly interested in a boat.

If I had any advice to offer it would be shy away from the big box stores like Walmart Menards, stuff like that. They have huge kayaks for very little money. Problem is they're built so poorly you can't go in a straight line with them. I call them swimming hole toys.
My first kayak I bought at Cabela's for five hundred bucks. Most people didn't think I was going to like it and it sounded way too cheap. Personally I absolutely loved the thing. I can't remember the brand off the top of my head but there's a post in here about it.
I've only recently upgraded to a larger Wilderness Systems kayak because I wanted to start using on-board electronics and carry more gear. Which meant a bigger kayak.
I don't know if you talk to Ed much but he answered a lot of my questions when I was in the market.
Number one rule in my opinion, make sure you buy something that has a Rudder. Whether it be molded into the tail or a flip down. If there's nothing you just will not be able to control that thing.

Thanks Jim. I'll talk to Ed before I buy one for sure. I like that rudder tip.

Get a camo one and you could dual use hunting and fishing in it!  :yoyo:

Glen,
I have been thinking about this and think I may have a solution.  Just send Jim around $10,000 and he will pick out the best kayak for you.   :innocentwhistle:      :innocentwhistle:      :innocentwhistle:

I’ve been looking heavy into the foot peddler kayaks. There’s several makers and on the market. Just looking to pull the trigger on the right one.

HaMeR

I'm also looking at the 2 person peddle boats so Diane can ride along or have a lot more room for a small cooler or tackle box.
