:eyebrow:
#1 & #2 came from the same hole & #3 came from a hole only 25yds away. That hole still has 2 young ones in it.

Its about time someone did it! WELL........How far? ..What gun? .......How did they taste? Did ya scout first then hole watch?
Where is the story man! :innocentwhistle:
I walked across the road & when I stepped up into the field edge I saw the 1st one setting on the mound. It was young & dumb so I had plenty of time to get set up with the chair & sticks & bust it. I went back to the truck for the camera & when I stepped into the field again there was #2 on the mound. Same thing,,, WHAP!! I walked out & took the pictures & as I was walking back to the rifle I seen another hole. I kinda walked toward it a little & seen a head sticking out. So then I walked on over the knoll to see if the original hog had come back out. I waited about 20 minutes & when I stood up to see if the other hog was out there was 3 of them on the other mound. :eyebrow: So I moved a little closer & sat down again. They wouldn't seperate so I clocked the biggest one 1st. :eyebrow: The other 2 never came back out. That was when I went back to the truck & Diane got hers. My shots were under 60yds & I was using the rifle Diane used. The Marlin 17 HaMeR!! :eyebrow: I would have to ask the various critters roaming around out there how they taste. Diane doesn't mind cooking game but not groundhogs. :nono: We also had a red fox trot to within 35yds but the camera wasn't on.
Way cool but those young ground hogs tastes like a big red squirrel
:puke: :puke: Al
Looks like you guys could use some of our rain,Glen :eyebrownod: :highclap:
We could use some of it Jim. We're OK on our rainfall right now. But we would take a little to help you folks out some tho. :yoyo:
Those pics really show the crop damage groundhogs can do to soybeans.
#4 :eyebrownod: :eyebrownod:
Finger be damned I went lookin for a g-hog or 2 to take my frustrations out on.
Just a little 20yd off hand shot as I was entering the field. The other hog made the hole. It was about 120yds & I hit it in the heavy front shoulder & it ran to the hole on 3 legs. :rolleye: I hate when that happens.

I miss doing that I may go Sat. I remember wacking one with my 6mm and a 6.5x20 Leupold @ 225yds and I think I knocked the clover right ot of his mouth... :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: I was just trying to hit him :eyebrownod:
Looks like fun haMer Thanks for the pics it brings me way back.
You're Welcome Al. Now get out there & bust a couple!!

#11 204Ruger with a 39gr BK at 125yds. Just a little bugger. You can tell by the size of it's liver it's a small one. :laf: :laf:
#12 Big Mama here!! She was a nice hog to take out of the breeding society. She stood up in the edge of the weeds about 1 minute after the crack from the 1st shot. She was out at 137yds. The 39gr BK made a tiny entrance hole in her belly & filled her full of mush.
Picture #3...you shoulda laid a live shell in his paw :roflmao: :roflmao:
Is the gun in #8 and #9 a 10/22? I love the color of that stock. Looks exactly like my Boyds craddled ruger 22-250
:laf: :laf: That woulda been funny!!
That rifle would be my HaMeR Jim. It's a Marlin 917VS in 17HMR with a Bausch & Lomb 3-9x40 on top. I installed a RifleBasix trigger in it & dropped it down to 2 1/2lbs. It shoots lots & lots of 3/4" 100yd groups off the bags & even drops to 5/8" on occasion. My Wife shoots eggs at the range at 107yds with it off sandbags. She hits 10/12 & I shoot the other 2 with whatever I have at my bench. The 204Ruger just evaporates them!! :laugh2: :laugh2:
I enjoy shooting eggs so much that I have it listed on my web site as fun targets to shoot. My intention was to do a video of shooting them with a 17 Rem(4200fps) then post it on my web site but I dont know how
:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: Very cool to watch none the less :eyebrownod:
Canned goods are fun too........and paint balls :roflmao:
The 17Rem should vaporize them Al. My 204 & 221 both do. The 17HMR makes nice yoke strings outta the scope if you hit em a little low & have the big end down. :yoyo:
Here's the 13th FnF victim of the year & 16th total. This little critter came outta nowhere!! I was watching 2 holes when he just popped up in front of me at 35yds. All I could do was :hahaha: & squeeze!!
2 more bean eaters snuffed out late yesterday evening. Both with the Savage 17HMR in a Boyds stock & using the CCI 17gr TNT HP's. Which I still don't care for but I'm gonna test them some more anyway. :eyebrownod: Both were shot at less than 75yds. #1 was in some 8" grass & died slowly. The TNT went straight thru the chest causing a slower than I like death. I couldn't see it clearly enough for a 2nd shot so I had to let it expire in it's own time.
#2 was shot in a quartering away position thru the chest at the top of it's hole. It knew I was there & wouldn't come out any further.
Looks like you plugged the hole back up.........with him :laf: :laf:
:laf:
Think it woulda come out with a plunger?? :laf: :laf:
You have killed so many, you should hunt coyotes over the stink pile. :eyebrownod:
18 isn't that many Al. :nono: But it's a good start!! :eyebrownod: I leave em lay where they are. The boozards gotta eat too you know!! :laf: :laf:
I am soooo jealous! :pout:
:laf: :laf: :laf:
Well dagnabbit James!! Get out there on your way to/from work & bust a couple now & agin!! :eyebrownod: Matter of fact we worked over by the farm you shot your coyote on & the hogs were just out layin around in the sun in mini lawn chairs sippin iced tea & crackin jokes about that big bad vvarmitr guy that can't hit a barn wall iffn he was tied up to it.
I know you're busy James. Just had to mess with ya some. :eyebrownod:
I have seen one and I set a trap for him.........he is under my building, there just arent any around anymore.
Well shucks Al!! I coulda sent ya about a dozen or so if you woulda just asked!! :hahaha:
Since our little coyote problem we just do not have any hardly.
I've noticed the hay fields I shoot are less populated now as well. And I know there are coyotes there too.

Thats not a bunch of BS. We did work over that way. :eyebrownod:
I've been catching up on pens lately & now I'm making another table for the in-laws. Plus the bank is keeping me busy. Maybe I'll find a couple hours this weekend to set out somewhere. :eyebrow:

Again you folks make some cool clips!
More of the same Please....... :eyebrownod: Very nice!!
What did you use to film it ? A vid cam., a phone, or a dig. camera?
How do you keep the file small enough to load in a reasonable time?
I like it and I can tell from the sound..........Diane is the Boss :eyebrow:
"It's on question is are you"............ :roflmao: :roflmao: :laf: :laf: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
VV-- Diane actually likes it. She is really getting into that new camera. :yoyo:
Al-- I have another one from this AM. This next hog is almost as light as the one VV had tanned/stuffed. Shot it in the ear at about 135yds with the FireBall. We're using a Sony CyberShot digital camera. I don't know how to answer the file loading question. We just loaded it to PB & I brought it from there to be honest. And the Camera Woman is always the Boss.
The 1st clip shows a hit but we couldn't find any evidence at all in a 10ft circle. Looks like a glancing blow off the ol head bone.

This one was definitely a hit. About 135yds. The tree line was 145 & I just guesstimated it at minus 10.

I never get tired of that....... :laf: :laf: :laf:
Tell your wife she is doing a great job with that camera!! :yoyo: :yoyo:
Tired of em??? :nono:
Those are great Glen Diane! :thumb2: Give me more!!!! :corn:
After viewing the "hit or miss" stopping it & enlarging it it appears you peeled it across the top of nose toward the eye. :sick2:
Thats what I was thinking James. No blood, fur or anything anywhere tho. I might take the HaMeR to the Chiropracter this evening then run out there for a quick looksee again. But I think I clocked it tho. :eyebrownod:
I'll try to get some more. I seen 3 more yesterday I didn't get any shots at. :eyebrow:
And Diane says "Thanks for the kind reviews & you're all sick!!!!!!!!" :roflmao: :roflmao:
Here's a FOR REAL HOG folks!! I have a video that goes with it but I can't seem to shorten it on PB like I did the others. It's cool too. I shot this big SOB in the back of the head with a 20gr XTP from my Marlin 17HaMeR & the mist flew out both ears, nose & one eyeball musta been blue. Cuz it got blue outta it's head. :shck: Sometimes I forget how hard this little round hits & it takes an evening like this to remind me. This bad boy weighed just a tad shy of the 15lb mark on my cheapo scales!! :yoyo:
Look at the size of this critter would ya!! He even has a mouthful of "evidence". :readthis:
This little round totally blew his brains into mush. This one is kind of bloody & I have no problem if this gets removed. Right behind the stick is the entrance wound. There was no exit that I know of. These 20gr XTP's hit like a HaMeR!!
I'll post the video when I can get it down to the last 10 seconds. Hopefully that will help anybody on dialup enjoy it too.
Glen you made me proud.......Head shot!.....NICE. :eyebrow:
 If I could photoshop a smiley I'd take an eyeball & a couple teeth out!!!! :roflmao: :roflmao:
You're Welcome Al.
Here's the accompanying video. Looks like he might have been trying the ol duck & run move on us. :laf: :laf:

Wow! :shck: A 15lber. Ya don't come by those everyday.
What was that little squeak at the end of the video?
You're doing good Glen. I went out last Monday to a meadow where we normally see several groundhogs. Stayed out most of the day. Didn't see a one. For some reason (coyotes??) we just don't seem to have as many as in past years.
Jim
:roflmao: James-- That was Diane laughing her ass off at me!! We were talking about the deer that were about 135-150yds in front of us & the fawn that was right around 90-100yds in front. I didn't hear her say there was a groundhog out & I thought she wanted up close footage of the fawn. After about 1 minute I realized she was telling me there was a hog at 50yds & she wasn't asking where the fawn went!! :roflmao: And you're right about that big boy. That's why I scaled him & posted a pic of it. That was one heavy dude!! The Bopeye of the groundhog world if you will!! :roflmao: :roflmao:
Just funnin ya Bop!!
Jim-- The hay fields here haven't produced much for us the last couple years either. It's been mostly bean fields. The coyote theory is a valid one too. Hang in there tho. I know 1st hand that hunting anything in W Va is tough.
I even got to nail 2 yesterday as well. My 1st one was with the 204 & a 32gr V-Max at about 60yds. We couldn't get this on videoed because Diane couldn't find it. It was just out of her sight as she was setting about 1 foot lower to me & to my right. So I scrambled everything inside his 11lb head too. :eyebrownod:
My next one came with the 22WMR. We were walking back the lane between barns & I caught him out in the open at 50yds. The Marlin WaMeR did a number on this one too. No video as we were walking.
Wow! Glen,
You and Diane are really piling them up. Keep it up.
Jim
Thanks Jim!! She's the difference maker for sure!!
The Terminatress!! :eyebrownod:
This is probably it til next weekend. I hope it holds you over til then. :eyebrownod: The hogs will be tough to see at 1st. But the 204 gives up there location nicely. :laf:
Here is Diane's 1st hog of the day. Head shot. :yoyo:
(http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/BrightwoodTurnings/th_Septhogs007.jpg) (http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/BrightwoodTurnings/?action=view¤t=Septhogs007.flv)
I took the 17HaMeR out to retrieve her hog & walked up over the hill quck. It paid off on a small hog that was caught a long ways from it's hole. Diane's is the larger of the two.
This is her 2nd hog of the day. You can't see it but it's there. You'll see the puff from the gaping hole in it's neck tho. I called it a headshot thru the binos but I was wrong. The shot was a tad low but effective nonetheless.
(http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/BrightwoodTurnings/th_Septhogs009.jpg) (http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/BrightwoodTurnings/?action=view¤t=Septhogs009.flv)
And here is the end result.
