We purchased this house bout 5 yrs ago and had a hog living out back since I've moved in.  He's pretty skiddish and hard to get at.   Seen him scoot across the lawn this evenin triggerin DevonD and myself into stalk mode with the bow but he gave us the slip.  I think I might make a blind in the backyard lol.

Just be careful with them Hogs, Last year a Hunter in Georgia shot a Hog with a 243 and the Hog ran into a thicket the Hunter went to find the Hog, the Hunter did not reload after shooting. The Hog charged him out of the Thicket and knocked him to the ground and cut him up pretty bad before he could get his rifle reloaded  and made a lucky [b shot and killed the hog. He almost bled to death before a friend that was also hunting found him. The Hunter was a Doctor. I think I if I was Bow Hunting Hogs on the Ground I would also carry a Hog leg on my side easy to get to. Good luck and be careful cc

Well, this wasnt about what I thought it was going to be about. We used to have a different version of Hoggin when we was younger :eyebrow:

I found on the DNR website that we have hogs right here in Defiance County.  I called the game warden to find out where they were and found out that they really don't exist around here.  There were 5 hogs that escaped about 10 years ago and that put the county on the map as having wild hogs.  The problem is that no one has seen them or any damage done by them since they escaped.  So it doesn't look like I will have any flat land to hunt hogs on.

I shoulda worded it differ, ground grizzly ( woodchuck/groundhog ) is what was in the backyard.  Dont want them big hogs in the yard, there's enough of them hanging on the mahogoney ridge watering holes.

:laf: Boy I missed that one, at lease you will not need the Hog leg for them critters, The big hogs are a different story, a couple of years ago a good friend of mine got put up a tree by a wounded hog that he was tracking after he had shot it, just need to be prepared when hunting them boys. cc

No doubt...

Knock on wood I've been lucky thus far. A couple close calls.... Numerous dogs injured over the years, as well as a few killed by boars.

Hawks Feather

I think I might want to be hunting from a tree.  The dogs look beat, but the leg looks worse.
