Title: Self Cocking Crossbow
Post by: FinsnFur on September 20, 2011, 04:52:31 PM
I'm not a bow hunter but I seen this in an email I got his afternoon and I got to admit, it kinda caught my attention.
Their claiming it to be the worlds first self cocking crossbow, which does so at the push of a button.

You had my undivided attention right up to the $1495.00.  :laf: :laf:

On the other hand I do really like the Auto-Un-cock feature. But for that price I'll just slip a junk bolt in like I've been doing & shoot it into soft ground for FREE.

It's still a very unique idea that should allow a lot of people to get into or back into deer hunting with archery equipment. Plus the 400gr bolt/broadhead combo at 300fps you're looking at some serious knockdown on an Elk or Moose. I like the idea.

I'm thinking it's like anything else new. Sky high like that right out of the chute because everyone wants one. Once the dust settles they might be a little closer to reality.

Hopefully that is the case. I think it will fill a small niche nicely if it can hold on at that price. Parker does make a nice bow.

Wonder what it sounds like when it's being cocked? If it's loud when being cocked back seems a follow up shot would be hard to pull off. I could see the advantage for a disabled hunter, but not for sure how it would help a healthy hunter. Like to try a fancy crossbow one day just to see what it's like, but I'm with Hamer the price is way high.

At the heart of the Concorde is Parker’s patented Quick Draw System, which features a CO2 powered internal cocking mechanism. The Quick Draw System is operated by simply pressing a button that is recessed into the rear of the butt stock. By pressing the button, the Concorde automatically draws the string into the fully-cocked position. It really is that easy. Plus, it cocks the crossbow in approximately two (2) seconds and is whisper quiet in its operation.

From the link Jim posted. Sounds like a quiet operation as well as swift. I really like my crossbow. Scary accurate out to 30 yards.   :eyebrow:

Yeah, I bought a pair of boots call "Silent Hunters" once. Everytime my left foot hit the ground a loud SQUEEK followed.  :alscalls: I find it hard to believe everything I read.
