.......it was a good deal. Now I just need to figure out how to use it?

Hoyt Maxxis 31, came loaded with carbon arrows, case and heck the guy even threw in the release.

Very nice!   It is kind of funny how bows don't look like bows anymore.  :laf:

Todd,
Nice looking bow and I am sure that you will enjoy it.

Glen,
I don't think those are training wheels.  While I am not sure, many of these new bows are REALLY heavy.  The wheels allow you to pull them along the ground.  There is a three wheel (tricycle) model that comes on crossbows.   :innocentwhistle:

Edit:  I just looked at the bow a little closer and can see that it was previously owned by a plumber.  If you look you can see the plunger on the top of the bow.

HaMeR

:doh2:  My bad Jerry.  So are you saying Todd can just hop on that thing & ride it off the hill at the end of the day??  :laf: :laf:

:laf: :laf: @ a plumbers bow!!

That is a nice bow. I went out to Ashland to a hunting store there a while back & looked at the new bows. Those things are really nice & none of them lack speed either. Well,, if you can draw a 70lb bow that is. Which I can't.  :nono:

Lol, just show me where grab on to it to shoot it?  :alscalls:

I think he said this one is currently at 63 lbs.

The only downer is, the kid I got it from is a sniper headed to Afghanistan for the next year.

HaMeR

Aint nothin wrong with that. Just offer him 1st dibs if he thinks he will want it back later.

The let off on the new bows make them pretty nice to shoot.  You should be below 30# (max) at full draw.  The only problem is getting it started.  It is all down hill after that.

Thanks Scott!

Well took her to the range today, and she's a tac driver, the shooter just needs a lil practice. I noticed two things as a new shooter. One my shoulder is burning  :innocentwhistle: and two, I don't ever see the arrow leave or fly to the target. It's rease, smack!  :shock2: :shock2: Then pulling them out is a work out its self!

Looking forward to practicing with it though!

HaMeR

Whatcha sayin Todd?? It's fast??  :eyebrow:

If you don't have an arrow puller you need to get one - they work well and help.  The second thing is to coat the arrows.  There are several different products for arrows that you wipe on them and that too will help when you go to pull them out.

Jerry

Edit:  Woody's Arrow Lube seems to be the best right now.

Lemon Pledge from the Dollar store for me. The cheaper the better.  :laf: :laf:

That probably makes the arrows smell pretty good too.

  I aint no arrow sniffer.  :nono: :nono:

But I do know it works on one of those "The Block" targets. The crossbow bolts pull a lot easier too. The guy at the bow shop recommended the Pledge. He said that's all he uses when he shoots. Even in tournaments.

Its fast for me Glen, but I'm not sure how fast or if its normal.

A puller is on the list now.

HaMeR

You're probably at 300fps at 63lbs.  :eyebrow:

Ok.  I really don't know what that means yet Glen.  He had it at 65 lbs and the shop lady turned me down to 57 until I get used to shooting it (which she thinks will be in two to three weeks) and then back up to 65 lbs I guess.

I did how ever successfully pass my on-line Bow Certification. Now I just need to sign up for one of the shooting days and I'm in.  :sneer:

Bow Certification?  Is this so you can hunt with a bow or so you are allowed to carry concealed?

Jerry

Edit:  I was just looking at the picture again and it looks like a left handed bow.  Is it, or did the image get flipped?
