Title: Cold day of calling.
Post by: riverboss on January 07, 2018, 03:41:46 PM
Linemansteve and I went out today. Steve got here at 700
And we headed out to a great spot for early morning!
I called in 3 coyotes but he never had a shot on any of them.
We went to a new farm I had just got permission on and made Two stands.
The first stand I killed a big bobcat and the second one was a bust.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180107/54184d14801b50ad0e39e599c8933941.jpg)
We hit another farm and walked our butts off making several stands, but nothing showed. We finished up with one more empty stand before calling it a day.
It's always great to hunt with Steve, we always have a good time.
Now if i could just kill a cat that I don't blow a hole in you can put your fist in.

Dan that a darn nice cat your holding.  From the looks of it I would guess a fairly good sized tom, did ya weigh him?  What's the story, early morning, mid-morning, sounds, rifle, caliber, time on stand, you know enquiring minds want to know.  Did the dog play any part in the kill?

P.S.  How is the wife doing?

John it was about 9:00 am spot watched it play out but did good on sitting tight.
I shot it at about 12 yrds with a 6x6.8 ar using 75 gr v-max bullets.
Believe it or not it's a female! I haven't weighed her yet I need a battery for my scale.
The wife is doing better. She's scared to death about tomorrow, she gets a new knee at 10:30 and is worried about the out come. I'm sure all will go as good as it can but not knowing is scary. Thanks for asking a please say a prayer for her tonight.

My dad had his knees replaced and is very happy with the results. Best advice on recovery is do everything the doc says and no more. Just make sure you do what he says to do.
