Yukon river breakup

Got back from village of Galena on the Yukon river a couple of days ago and got to witness the ice jam come through.

That ice jam looks quite a bit like we get up here on the Wisconsin river. Pretty cool site, thanks for sharing the pics.

Our river is not nearly as large but just as spectacular in the spring.  I dont get too close when she's up n roaring like that.

Neat pictures.  I have watched the ice flow (much smaller) around here and it is unbelievable the amount of force that water can have - just watch the ice when it comes to a smaller spot in the river or comes to one of the small islands.
