My buddy and I drew two tags to SC's first gator season and on the first night killed two. One that was 10'2" and the other 9'8". Shot with a crossbow , pulled to the boat and shot with a pistol.

Sold the hide to a dealer in Fla and we are still eating the meat. Excellent table fair.
Thats cool Alphadog. I like the pic with the one on the table.
Thats craziness.
Looks interesting, but it's not for this snowbird. :nono:
are they two different species of gator?? one has alot wider snout!! the one on right is narrow like a croc!!
One on the left (the one I killed) is a male and the one on the right is a female. That is a few things that are difference's in the sex of each. :hahaha:
I've eaten about everything but gator. Would love to try it some day. They sure to look big :congrats:
tastes like chicken!!!
Way to go guys, iI bet there will be a less Chuwauwas missing. (I'm sure i misspelled that one)
:yoyo: Wow! Congrats on the hunt!
:yoyo: :highclap: :yoyo: :congrats:
I love smoked gator. My daughter has 20 lbs of gator tail in her freezer. We'll smoke half and BBQ the other half.
Actually, it's better than chicken!

Saw an archeology program about the Topper paleo site the other night and saw some gators in the river in the show. I didn't know you had them that far north until then. Now you up and show a couple from the first huntign season, so cool :yoyo: Jimmie
That's very cool right there! Congrats :highclap:
Wow awesome kills!
Congratulations to the both of you, extra special since it was the first hunt. Do you have any idea how many people applied for a tag and how many drawn? All that was missing from the picture of the gator on the table is a knife and fork :eyebrownod:

They drew 1000 names and 600 bought the tags. Tags are $100 and I've forgotten how many people killed. If you were drawn and did not buy your tag you would be penalized for the next year.
What sounds did you use to call them in???
Just kidding! I know even less about hunting alligators than I do about hunting coyotes. Looks like fun though!
Jim
Believe it or not I used a juvenile gator grunt to keep the female on top of the water. :innocentwhistle:
