I"ve been a little lax in reporting my hog hunting exploits here.  So here's a short narration:

Glanced out the back door this morning and saw a grey form down below just off to the side of HH1.  It was a feeding hog, and it was non aware it had been spotted.  The farmer had just cut the field below the other day, so I've been expecting some hog action as they work the wood row up to my place.  I was not disappointed.
Cracking the door open ever so slightly, I found the hog busily feeding about 25 yards below.  When it turned and faced my way, I put the crosshair right on the center of its forehead and squeezed off.  The hog buckled up, and dropped.  I could see the red hole right in the center of his skull.  The bugger kicked for a few seconds not knowing that he was already dead a few seconds earlier.  This one makes No. 16 for the year out back.  Let's see if we can add a few more in the coming months?

I cleaned up some of the gore in the photo below to make it more viewer friendly.  Slug passed through his skull and exited out his throat.  Was spraying to beat the band!

Good shooting to all!

No meat damage, could utilize the whole hog.
When they come for mine they better bring theirs

Some devastation right there.  I am assuming that you were using that new pellet gun you got a year or so ago.

Now Jerry, that would be just an assumption.  The State of Pennsylvania does not allow the use of air rifles for hunting.  :nofgr:

Perfect timing for your family - heard you just ran out of venison!   :congrats:

Good shooting.

First time I ever saw one of those was when we visited you this spring.  I saw my first one on our drive out to meet you for lunch.

Spraying to beat the band lol :laf:
By the way...were contemplating fining you for your lack of Hog Hunting reports.  :readthis:

You aren't hunting.  You are killing trespassers.

Or bait for coyotes.   :wo:   Then you could try another shot with that airrifle.

Jerry

Yeah that would be so cool to see a coyote with a 22LR sub slug in it's head!!  :yoyo: :yoyo:

Just have red fox in this area.  The coyotes are up on the mountain.  Meantime, I was basking in the glory of having taken No.16...When the wife hollers that there is a groundhog under the bird feeder later that same day.  So out on the deck I sneak rifle in hand.  The hog was busy munching on sunflower sprouts.  The range was about 10 yards...I had to crank the scope down as low as it would go along with the adjustable objective.  I aim right on his ear, trying to hold the rifle offhand and crouch low enough to shoot under the deck rail.  Pop!  The hog looks around and takes off???  Damned if I did not hit the edge of the deck board. :doh2:  Oh well, he'll be back eventually.

A friend of mine back in PA told me that air gun hunting may happen, HB263.  Does he know what he's talking about or just BS?

John,

Your friend is correct.  Right now a bill is in front of the Senate Game and Fish here in PA.  Folks seem to think it will pass.. All we can do is wait and see.  You can use a .22 rifle with shorts in it and be perfectly legal.  But you cannot use a more powerful air gun?  Makes no sense...
