If you are not using super glue for skin breaks, I recommend it.  I cut my thumb yesterday and then spilt a fingernail well into the quick this morning.  Super glue fixes both.  I glued the flap down on my cut and will likely have to glue it once more before it heals up to where it does not hurt.  Meanwhile I use the thumb without pain or even thinking about protecting it.

Ditto for the split fingernail.  Instead of having it hang up and tear further, and instead of trimming it into the painful quick or putting a Band-Aid on it, I just glued it down, sanded off a bit of lump and picked a bucket of strawberries at a U-pick.

In dry cold my heels and my fingers split painfully.  A few years ago on a hunt with grandson Cody I had us quit early and go home because my split fingers and thumbs were so painful.  Now I glue them closed with super glue and carry on, virtually pain free.  You can buy a special super glue for skin in drug stores but any kind seems to work for me.   Glue it shut and if you can't do that, cover over the raw spot with the glue.

Been doing that for a long time Ok!! I wear gloves at work in the morning and they just suck the moisture out of my hands. My thumbs are especially bad.

Another trick I learned recently is to wash my hands with dish soap that has lanolin in it. Use a scrubber pad like you would use for dishes. Doing this twice a day removes the dead dry skin around & along your nails and helps keep them from cracking.

NOT A SISSY HAND LOTION!

Made with only pure and natural olive oil, lanolin, beeswax, and high quality essential oils, Hard Core Hand Care is designed for the person who spends alot of time in the outdoors or at any job where tough work with hands is the norm. This sturdy formula will cure even the most stubborn finger cracks and dry hands, feet, and elbows. We hear from commercial drivers that it relieves and improves "Driver's Finger Cracks." As well, we hear from diabetics who have painful dry skin and have tried every prescription possible. After a couple days of use, they see huge improvement and relief.

Other Amazing Uses
for Hard Core Hand Care...
It works as a hair conditioner; Use it to spike up your flat top!
Apply it immediately after a superficial burn, it will give both instant pain relief and long term healing.
This salve is also a great black fly and mingie repellant.
Use it as an emergency lubricant or rust repellent
Restores and rehabs leather boots and even improves old leather furniture.
Use on your dog's foot pads to restore and protect
Will make your dry line float better than the wimpy expensive stuff. Also, use it to clean, lube and protect your fly line

Dick is a NE outdoor legend!

Sounds good!  Especially the dry fly dope.

My trouble is that I don't do preventive maintenance on my hands and feet, and then am in pain once they get dry and crack.   Then I need a quick fix to stop the pain, hence the Super glue after the damage is done.  Then I remember to use lotion a time or two but don't keep it up.  I was looking for the old tried and true Bag Balm and found some stuff called Udderly Smooth that I've been using.  I need to get some of the Hard Core Hand Care when this runs out.

Super glue is odd stuff in that sometimes it doesn't hold anything, and other times (apparently when applied right on the right materials) it is phenomenal.

Back in 1972 I super glued some sheets of tire inner tube to my Rocket fins for diving, to make a one way flap that sealed the slots in the fins on the power stroke but flapped open for the forward stroke.  Wow was that ever effective, improving power and making my stamina last longer.  Those were still glued solid in 1990 after hundreds of hours of flexing in salt water.

The stuff sure glues skin to skin and will tear skin off rather than come apart.

When I am done tying a fly I always finish the whip finish off with a dab of crazy glue on the threads holds it forever.

It's what I use for a finish on my calls and with 16 oz bottles of it laying around yep... glued myself together today after sharpening my folks lawn mower blade... then noticed the inside of the deck needed scraping.   :doh2:
