Caving in from the top. I cant believe they are just letting it go. You'd think they'd tear it down or try to save it. What an eyesore.
One of the guys at work told me when they first put it up but I can't remember. I do remember him saying they stopped using it in the early sixties.

There used to be a big bell up top on a lil steeple. I seen it laying somewhere in town when I was passing through.  I should watch and see if I can remember where and grab a pic of it. Someone wanted to save that part of it anyway.

Shame to see it like that.  The parents of a buddy I went to high school with owned an old school house.  We were walking around it and I noticed the air slots around the base of it.  I thought bet kids used to throw ink wells in there.  Asked him where the access was and there wasnt any.  We knocked a hole through the bricks out under the back porch crawled around and found about 10 ink wells.  Also found some medicine bottles with the name of our town and the pharmacy they came from molded into the glass.  Interesting what you can find around old school houses.

Yotehntr calls... put something pretty on your lips

I used to love going bottle digging back in the day. Just find the downhill side of an old pasture  and that usually was where the farmer  used to dump all the old garbage and stuff back before they had garbage trucks and dumpsters and all that fancy stuff.
