I took Nick out this evening just for some fun shooting small game......I took my .22 and he took his 12 ga. and we decided we would both sit in my tower stand together and not really care if we got anything or not.

Was not long and I shot a nice Gray tree rat right in the head at about 40yds.
I went to retrieve it and came back to notice a mouse running around in the window sill.
I told Nick that there had been two mice bothering me in there this season and I am sick of them!
One of the mice ran right in front of us on the open window sill and stopped to look at me............. :eyebrow:
I stuck my .22 barrel up to it and it actually sniffed the hole in the barrel ......CRACK....1 down  :laf: :laf: :laf:
We laughed hard as the mouse went cartwheeling out in front of the shack we were in.......
It was a safe shot right into the ground so all was well and we only had 1 mouse to contend with. :hahaha: :hahaha:

Well about 2 min. later here he came....a fat little fella ran right through the path of his long lost pal and I did the same shot ....only this time I simply parted the hair on his back leaving a powder burned mouse sitting very still as if he were in a daze of some sort.

As I moved to take another crack the mouse ran to Nick's side of the window where Nick had his shotgun rested.....

Well danged if that suicidal mouse didn't stop right at the end of the barrel and look right in the hole as if he were gonna run inside.......... BANG....Not to be out done Nick could not resist pulling the trigger......It looked as though Tom Knapp shot a skeet and turned it to powder with a flickering of hair in the air being the only thing left....... :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

Well that and a mess on the window sill........ :laf: :laf: :laf:

We learned two things from this hunt......Killing mice is expensive and fun.... :eyebrownod:
Shotguns that are just barley sticking out the window of the shack are very LOUD  :laf: :laf: :laf:
We had fun and Laughed so hard we could not breathe....... :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
What a good time......and the tree stand? Mouse free for now

Al,

I have been looking at the pictures of your "tower stand" and want to know if you took a mobile home and jacked it up into the air.  It doesn't look like a "normal" tower stand when one of the people is sitting in a recliner with camo curtains.

The Inside floor measurement is 7' X 9'  with a 9' height......Windows on all sides that swing open.....with a staircase and hand railing going the 12' up into the stand......I built it all from scrap lumber except for some of the sheeting.
I have spent the night in it before with a 10,000 BTU heater and shot some really nice deer from it.....
When the feeders in front of it were being used year round I would only let kids, handicapped or the elderly use the stand and there have been a lot of first kills from it..... :eyebrownod:

The stand is getting old and needs some repair to the roof and stairs...but we are working on it a little at a time to keep things safe for the kids....When we get it caught up the kids will have feed once again for a GREAT time in a comfy stand.
It also has a 10 year old mineral lick in front of it that we fill every two to three months with rotten wood and mineral goodness...

Here is a view of what the deer see........

The siding at the bottom of the tower is to help hide the ATV from view when someone needs a little extra help getting to the stand as it is in a very remote place.......... :eyebrownod:
Re- painting is getting harder to do and will be done again next year.....
We built it all about 10 years ago or so with nothing but hand tools.........Some was pre-cut at home.

That's really nice Al.  If I had one out here I'd have to replace the 10,000 BTU Heater with a AC.
When they come for mine they better bring theirs
