I just got a new goose call for this season.  I didnt pay a whole lot for it but money is money IMO.
The reed was dry-rotted and cracked, plain and simple.  I do still have an Olt 77 that sounds sweet but wanted to add to the collection and have more than one caller honkin'.  I should know better and buy american made only...lol

It was the northen call company out of ontario.

This is what I sent:

I recently purchased a No. 205 magnum goose call.  After getting home and trying it out, it wouldnt make a decent note.
Now, I'm not new to game calls at all so I open it up and find the reed is cracked and dry-rot fragile.
Any chance of getting a reed replacement ?

Thanks   Vic

Yes, it was one of them deals where the box had dust on it and I should have known better.  I could take it back and try to return it, but I figured I'd try this route first.

Here's an update :

Hi Victor:
We haven't sold 205's for a number of years so that's probably why it's dryed out.  Where are you located, if it's near Ontario mail it to me and I'll replace the reed.
Best regards,
Al

I replied it probably wouldnt be worth it to ship it up there from here, if you cant ship a reed down I'll go ahead and make my own reed.

No biggie, at least I got a response.

I woulda answered back and told them you were fully capable of replacing the reed if they'd be kind enough to send you one.
It'd be worth a shot.
