I'm hoping the same thing on the mushrooms, but it could dry up real quick.
Nastygunz, that turkey would look a lot better horizontally  :eyebrow:

Just for the hens laying in the bus's before the coyotes get them.  To all you guys with actual wild birds, good luck and post pics.  Remember I came in third in a turkey contest on here once. :alscalls:

I've been seeing quite a few several times a week on the way home from work lately. I'm not a Turkey hunter but it seems like there's more around this year. Even seen a half a dozen or so roosting in a tree one evening just off the wood line. Dont usually see that from the road anyway.

I've seen more this yr than in the last 3-4 it should be a good yr.
I can't wait to see what kind of weapon Pat pulls out this yr, he's always changing up things.

Well unless one walks through my therapy place I think they will be safe.  I might be able to go out to the track meet tonight to shoot a few shots and get the 'stink blown off me'.  But that is mainly because the trainer is a friend of mine and said that he will put me in the Gator and take me anywhere I want to go.

There are five of them and even the smallest girl can make tears come to my eyes when they start working on the knee.  If I tick them off I have no idea what they might do to me.  I would probably end up being the dead turkey.

Your season's gonna be over before lunch tomorrow isn't it, HaMeR.
I have been seeing turkeys almost every morning on the way to work for the last couple weeks up here.

Come on Glen, I am impatiently waiting for a turkey picture before I head to therapy.  There were several youth around here that got some really nice birds this weekend on the youth days.

Good luck, Glen!   I've hunted three days now (mornings I should say) with no joy.  He answers but I also hear his hens and know I'm doomed.   :laf:  Hoping for better luck as the season progresses.

Finally got one this morning.  It's been a tough season for me.  He's a young two year old who should taste pretty good at supper tonight.

Jim
We are allowed two birds in the spring season.  So I'll be out there looking for another one soon.

Actually, I should be tagged out now.  I missed a real nice one at 15 yards last Tuesday morning.  Long story short, his head and neck popped up to my right from behind a ridge and I was facing 30 degrees to the left from him. He saw me instantly and putted (he's going to run) I moved to get on him and fired but he did the Muhammed Ali shuffle and I missed his head. At that range, my shotgun fires a softball size pattern. There is no room for error.  He took flight and was headed to Wisconsin the last I saw of him.   :laf:

Nice one, Graves!   I hope to get back out there soon.  Life is getting in the way of my turkey hunting.

pitw, double beards are rare in some areas and not that uncommon in others.  Gravesco is right about genetics.

Who's screwing with them?

Usually Tom turkeys.   :innocentwhistle:   Actually it is a way to preserve more turkeys.  Everyone ones to harvest a huge Tom with long spurs and a double beard.  That gives the little jakes and the single bearded birds a chance to continue to multiply.  Since you actually hunt and don't believe everything you read on the internet you will know that I just made that up.  For the PETA people who might visit - I lied, it isn't true, don't believe it, and finally I eat meat and love it.
