HELL YES!!!!!

The young ones are mighty tasty. They are good as B-B-Q, made into sausage, make a stew, grilled. There are many ways to make young whistle pig.

No I am not jesting.

I have killed more than one yearling ground hog with a shovel so I could take it in to grandma. Now when they get older DONT use a shovel to try to kill them, you will most likley end up with a pissed off ground hog. That can be a little interesting.

I have been told you can use the older ones for things like sausage but I dont know of anyone actually using an older post pig for anything but target practice.

Coon.... Oh yeah many a meal with barbeque coon. Secret to them is boiling all the grease out. drain the water, debone then mix in your sauce and slow cook it. My grandpa used to take his coons "after skinning" down to a barbeque place just outside of Evansville. That guy was more than happy to take them off my grampa. He had a lot of happy coustomers.

What slag said.   Mom used to fry the legs in butter & onions.  :eyebrow: The young of the year are the best eating.

Jimbo-- I'm sure you've eaten venison & beef before. Same diet.

Yeah, my grandma told us how to take a older ground hog "not real old" and put him in a brazer. You would gather the drippings and use them for makeing saulves and ointments and even use it in a babys milk to cure diffrent ailments. All the drippings had all the good stuff in it that the ground hog had ben eating. Vitamins and minerals and stuff. They are strickt vegaterians ya know. Unlike a squirell that will eat meat heck even deer will eat youg birds right out of the nest.

Yeah I have, but I can't imagine eating a rodent though. :puke: The possible scenarios of what the thing had been into is staggering.

i'm not eating a coon either (unless I am starving).  Those things are full of worms.  A coon is probably OK if cooked well (like any game animal I suppose) but I have no desire to eat one.

As a kid I have eaten pretty much everything that my dad could trap or shoot, but I can't begin to name most of them. I do remember the beaver meat loaf and the breaded porcupine the best. I sure would like to have them again. I sure miss my dad.

:laf: :laf:  I'll even let Diane throw a few in too Dave!!!  :yoyo: :yoyo:

Groundhogs eating soybeans/hay/grass/ beats the hell out of the thought of what I'm ingesting by eating beef & all those steroids. Aint no wonder Americans are getting heavier. It's all the damn chemicals & steroids these animals are on.

Yeah this is true, a coon eats a lot of diffrent and disgusting things. You ever see what a pig eats? nasty as well. Bit I know the ground hog and coon arnt pumped full of hormones, steroids and other assorted pharmacuticals.
