My son just called me.
He has been in the Woods since Sunday first light, hunting elk by himself. He sleeps in the back of his truck.
He shot two cow elk today. He is in a two elk area with a "B" tag. That's the good news, the bad news is he is by himself with two elk on the ground, well over a foot of snow, and 35 mph winds. DANG.
More good news, at least for me, He has two buddies that he helped pack out elk for this year heading up to help.
That is a GOOD thing if I had to go help he would have two elk and one fat old man to pack out. :whew:
We did not fill our antelope tags this year and have given 4 deer away. He was a little short on meat this year, so the elk should help fill the hole.
He is SOOO incredible. At 43 he is still in better shape than I was at 20, like a little mule. :congrats:
old is the new young

Hawks Feather

That is some really good news.  I am sure that he will be more than happy to 'store' some in your freezer.

You were hoping that call was going to end with him having a back up plan :laf:
Congrats to the lad. Sounds like he'll be filling the freezer. :congrats:

I think that may be called shooting beyond your means. :laught17:
Two years ago a buddy and I shot two cows and we both agreed, never again. :doh2:
Vongrats to the youngun.
I say what I think not think what I say.

Hard core hunting!  Hope the pack out isn't too bad.  One elk is bad enough.  At least it is cold so there is no hurry due to spoiling, if you can get it out before the next snow storm.  Oops, just saw the date on this thread.  Whatever happened is done by now!
