Bills Custom Calls

My grandson [Kurtis]and I went scouting for turkey today with some luck I might add

We left the house about 10:30 am and went to the alfalfa field north of the house as we walked along the
edge of the woods and neared the crest of a hill so we could look over the east end of the field I saw some movement and ducked downgrabbed Kurtis and told him we need to crawl now,as we peeked on over there was one turkey running for the trees and we got to watch it for about 200 yards.I had the 22 rifle along just in case we seen a ground hog,but nothing in that spot.

We continued our walk and spotted a ground hog just as he spotted us he took off running and stopped in line with a house that was about 1/3 of a mile from me and through the trees.Kurtis had a gun safety lesson.Even though there were trees between us and the house you don't shoot.

As we continue our walk we go on up top of the big hill that put us behind our house as we topped the hill just walking talking and looking over the other side I see movement again when I hit the ground Kurtis did too.
We snuk over the top and there was a turkey just walking back and fourth at the edge of the woods. We watched him for a few then off into the woods he went in under some tree tops, and just out of nowhere a red tail hawk swooped down right into those tree tops, but the turkey was safe.So down over the hill and past the pond.Yep ducks on the pond we watched them for awhile and off to another field.Nothing there so Kurtis shoots the 22 a few times then back to the house. Kurtis told me he had alot of fun and when I told him when he comes back in 2 weeks we will be going turkey hunting.I think he is ready

Must have been a short day. I didnt find his post bragging about Chris's cooking.
Wish I could get Kyle to spend some time with these things. Seems like the more I steer, the further he steers. :iroll:

Chris didn't cook yesterday. We done a benifit breakfast for the neighbor girl, and for super the benifit was
still going on so we went back there.

Kurtis won't be hunting or scouting next weekend The boy is just to small to pull the trigger on any shot gun :laf:

My daughter has lost interest in turkey hunting, she used to go out and call-em with just her mouth and no call. She has never shot one, She would say she wants to just watch them and that was fine by me. We had a lot of fun but now she is 12 and says she would rather not go
But she loves to fish and I love to take her. You are bringging back some good memories for me Bill Keep those kids after them!
