Title: Need some help
Post by: FinsnFur on October 28, 2008, 09:20:59 PM
I need a list of the people that seem to be having trouble getting on FnF since our latest BooRah here (10-26-08)

I've got Semp, PossumAl, and Cb223

If anyone knows of any others post em so I can check their IP address's. I'm trying to pin this thing down and am wondering if it's geographical or not.
Plus, since LiquidWeb just upgraded our security mods, they may have to be added to our white list (safe list) again.

Thanks guys

I changed my IP address and that fixed the problem.

I ran IPCONFIG /RELEASE in CMD mode and then unplugged power from my modem (cable).  Waited a few hours.  Then did a cold shutdown and then restart and plugged power back to my modem.  My cable provider issued a new IP address and the problem was solved!

LOL @ Ronnie :laf:

Were thinking its being caused by mod security leaving some IP address's unrecognized.
I'm going to get a trace route from one of you lucky individuals today and have a gander at it.

I still can't get on at the house. I've been down since Sunday. No problems here at work.

The boys have made some adjustments I'm assuming, after getting my messages. I'm waiting to hear back.
By some of the replies in here it sounds like they rebooted the server, but then I would have had prolonged troubles too.

If I click..............Show unread posts since last visit.......... I do not always get all of them. so when I am finished reading them I have to go too..........Show new replies to your posts...........to get the rest of them.
Sometimes some of those disappear on me and show up again back in the first one. This has caused me to miss some things for a while. I hope this makes sense.
I do not know if I am getting all the posts or not.

Well, a couple things could be happening there.

One is you may have a corrupt cookie file. The cookie file identifies you to the forum once your logged in and feeds from your preferences so it knows what to show you.

The other thing is, those pages your looking at may have two pages to them.

Also, remember that "Show unread posts since last visit." is going to be posts that were made since you were last logged in. If it was made while you were already logged in, it wont be there. It will instead be under "read all unread topics".

 Your friendly Geek

How would I know if I had a corrupt cookie file?
How would I get rid of it?

I run a little program called CCLEANER.EXE

It gets rid of cookies, temp files, and a ton of other useless stuff.  It even goes through the registry looking for parts of old programs that were deleted and left behind.

Any experience with this program, Jim?  Good or bad??  Am I shooting myself in the foot by running it?   :wo:

Never heard of it myself, but that dont necessarily make it bad. I dont look for or at software like that mainly because I do what it does myself.
But if you've been using it for a while and it's working, I'd say you made out good.
