Title: just got a set of .223 dies
Post by: bigben on December 26, 2006, 12:47:54 PM
and was wondering if any of you guys can pass on some good recipes for a .223.  I am plannin on using em mainly on fox so I have decided that a 45 gr psp would probably be the ticket.  slow it down maybe also.  this is mainly going to be for my combo gun.  for night hunting.

BigBen,

I have shot some 45 grain bullets from my .223s, but I usually shoot 50 or 52 grain bullets.  When I shoot 45 grains I used either H335 or 748.  I used 25.5 grains of H335 (well below the 28.3 grain max load) and 26.0 grains of 748 (also well below the 27.4 max load.)  According to the RCBS manual these loads were sendig the bullet around 3200 feet per second.  Right around 3200 feet per secon has usually given me the best accuracy in my rifles.

Hope this helps,

Jerry
