Title: Best fish of the year so far...
Post by: centerfire_223 on March 21, 2016, 07:39:52 PM
Went out for a couple of hours this afternoon and picked up a couple but one was a nice one.

That's a humdinger of a specimen ya got there.

But we need more info. Like what tackel did ya use, water clarity, weather patterns and most importantly, did Jims kayak hold up?

Humongous bass!  Good for you!

Wish we had bass around here.  There's a rumor that there are a few bass in a slough that runs through a park near here.  I'd feel foolish fishing for bass where there are none, but wonder how to find out.

Ho Lee crap! How long was she? Did you measure her?

The wind was blowing so hard that I didn't take my kayak but instead just used a little boat we keep up at the lake house. So I didn't have a measuring board with me. All I can do is guess what she would be. She was a long fish with a 8lb head and a 5lb body. Looked like she was spawned out but couldn't see any effects of it on her tail.

Slag I was using a chart/white chatterbait in about 6 feet of water on a windy bank that has a lot of wood on it.

Wow - looks exactly as you described.  That head and mouth dwarf it's body.
