Title: Kid salesmanship
Post by: Okanagan on September 30, 2019, 01:06:58 AM
The high school football team here raises money by selling a card with discounts to local businesses.  Because of its color everybody calls it a gold card.  My grandson, Zay, sold the most cards by a big margin and got a nice prize.  The first time he took a turn at selling, two other players had been at it in that open mall location for two hours and had sold 3 cards.  Zay sold 17 in the next hour.  He sold 75 in the next few days.

I asked him what he was doing to sell so many.  First, he dressed up a bit, conservatively rather than kid trendy.

Then he said that the other players would ask people if they wanted to buy a gold card.  Almost nobody did.  Zay said that if the customer was a man, he would ask if he wanted to support the high school football team.  If it was a woman, he would ask her if she wanted to support the local school.
