My son makes my mandrels and boy there is no better way to make a call than on a mandrel. It just makes it so much easier and faster.

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

Is that a pin mandrel?? How does the call stay on??

It is a very tight fit and a very very slight taper.....no pin at all and it did not slip once.......I tried to get this one to mess up and it just works great. I may still put a groove and a pin for softer woods but for now this thing is awesome :yoyo:
I have flipped the call end for end and all kinds of crap and it is just as true as if I never moved it.
he took my head stock and chucked it in his lathe and threaded the workpiece right on and dial indicated it as one piece so it can not be out of line......put it back together and WOW what a difference!
I indicated it on my lathe and it is off by one half of a thousandth.....What else could you ask for I am real happy with it.

That's cool. Glad you got a mandrel that'll do what you want it to do repeatedly.  :yoyo:

I have 3 of the pin mandrels made by John's son and just love them. No more turning off center for me.
