Title: A snow goose.
Post by: pitw on October 24, 2009, 03:55:39 PM
Wife had more important stuff to do today so I got to take Donny over for his piano lesson.  As we are coming to the yard where I am to turn in I noticed something I thought some of you might like to see .  I kinda/sorta got yelled at for missing the turn into the yard but I'll show you why with the pictures in the sequence I took them as I drove past.

The last one was just to show that I'm good with techy/geeky stuff as there was a flock coming over with a bunch of blue eese I was going to show :doh2:.   I don't know how many there were but they covered well over 200 acres[probably closer to 280] at one time.  An eagle flew over from the north to south lifting them off and it must work for him a lot as at least two crashed and came down and he got one.  The noise was deafening and as beautiful as any symphony ever played.

Too bad geese aren't in season there.  It sure looks to me like you would have trouble finding ONE to aim at.  That one, no that one, no that one.

Cool pics Barry.  Around me, there is a conservation season dedicated to thinning out the snow goose population.  You don't need plugs in you guns and there are no daily bag limits.  I've watched guys hide behind a siloette of a cow, and sneak up to around 20-30 yards from the flock of geese, and then let em have it.  Huge numbers of geese can be taken.  Nobody likes snow geese around here.  They are kind of like pigs.  They rip up a field and leave it destroyed after they leave.
