Title: Temporary Chat
Post by: FinsnFur on January 07, 2011, 09:40:32 AM
How do I use the new Temporary Chat?
Click the link in the Tailgate, it's listed as a subforum, but it's a link to the chat.
Once you there backspace out the word "Guest" and type in a user name and password (this can be anything)....and hit "connect".

If you used a name that you want to use permanently, once your in, click on the little arrow next to the options button and then "Register name".

I can change all your settings, am I suppose to be seeing your Settings button under options?
You can't change no settings, it's a tease :laf:

To leave the chat send the message /quit
Thats a forward slash and the word quit.
If you don't your name just hangs in there for hours like a lifeless retard while everyone else laughs at you.

I wasn't insinuating I seen your corpse hanging in chat Barry :nono:
But I have seen several others, and they lay there motionless till I go in and disconnect them myself a lot of the time.

It reminds me of my bar tending days. Drag em to the door, stack em up out side, wipe down the bar, lock up and head for home. :laf:

I was starting to think that was my job.

I tried to get into this new chat and it wouldn't let me in. It kept asking for a screen name, over and over.  :madd: If I can't get in, How am I going to leave a zombie for you to wipe out?  :noway:
I will have to try again tonight or something.

Art, did you put in a password too?
It dont have to be your forum password, it can be anything since they arent integrated yet. But you need a password.

After the first time in it asks for my password over and over so I just hit change nickname with my nick and it opens

I did that Jim and I still have to sign in every time
Title: Re: Temporary Chat
Post by: FinsnFur on January 09, 2011, 09:41:04 AM
Yeah, you'll have to sign in. There's nothing in place to connect you with anything or anybody. When your going in it has no idea if your Bill, Barry, or Brad...until you log in and tell it.

If thats the case then what keeps someone from logging in as someone else?  :wo: I was able to log in using other peoples screen name even mine by putting in any password even when I registered my own!  It could be very bad if two people are in chat and one of them is a faker :rolleye:  How are you supposed to log out ? or does it automaticly log you out when you hit the x button or go back.

I try to use chat and it gives me

Flex Error #1001: Digest mismatch with RSL http://www.everywherechat.com/framework_3.0.0.477.swf. Redeploy the matching RSL or relink your application with the matching library.

Never gives me a place to put my name or nothing.

I think if you sign in with most the guys I chat with you would be found out in a hurry and then what would that do for your status .  I mean there is more to the way a person acts in chat than just a name.  Bill even found out that Becky isn't there to watch for fowl language :readthis: :innocentwhistle:.

:doh2: again...register your nickname.
It's not going to let 6 PITW's on .
Nor is it going to let someone clone him if his nick is registered. :innocentwhistle:

If this is happening to you then congratulations on successfully registering your nickname the first time in. Unfortunately what is happening now means that you already forgot your password :alscalls:

When it asks for your password, type in the password you used the first time when you registered your nick name and it'll let you right in. :doh2:

Title: Re: Temporary Chat
Post by: slagmaker on January 09, 2011, 06:50:28 PM
still giving me the same error
Title: Re: Temporary Chat
Post by: FinsnFur on January 09, 2011, 07:07:46 PM
Then your either typing your nickname differently then when you registered it or your password. If no one can remember their names, they'll most likely have to use a different name every time like Barry.

This is a beautiful example of why cookies (data files placed on your computer by web sites) are so important. The forum cookie will remember your name and password and all your read posts for you...so you can actually forget who you are  :alscalls: Thats sounds crazy.

But the chat doesnt. You log in--- you chat---- you log out--done deal.
I'm gonna get some black sharpies, and write everyone's name on their underpants waistband. :laf:

Let's try updating your flash players first. It sounds like we got several people running software and computers from the Johnny Cash era again.

What do you get when you hit the boss's link to chat over in the tailgate?
Remember I'm here to help as I sure enjoy chatting with you and Bobby has been asking where you are :doh2:.
So let's get you in even if you have to jump through Jims hoops to do it :yoyo: :yoyo:.
  Barry
Title: Re: Temporary Chat
Post by: FinsnFur on January 10, 2011, 03:42:36 PM
Yeah there's not much for me to fix.
The only real difference here is it's not integrated with the forum. But all that does is log you in there if your logged in here.

And it's a newer version. So it could be that some outdated machines arent going to be compatible with it unless they are upgraded too.
Try updating Internet Explorer, or Firefox, whichever you use. Update the flash player. (link above)
Maybe some of your virus scanners are not liking it.

Short of scheduling a couple seminars two nights a week, and buying everyone a new machine, I'm not sure what else to do. :laf: :laf:

Slag were you ever able to use the old chat?

Slag, I'm guessing your issues are related to something with your own personal computer settings. Such as Antivirus software, proxies or proxy settings, Flash player etc.
Were you EVER able to use the chat feature? And if so when did it suddenly become inoperable to you? Did you install any new programs on your computer that may have changed your security settings, are you using the same computer, did you install or start using a different browser, has your Adobe flash player been kept up to date, have you changed anything on your antivirus software?

Slag count your blessings :eyebrow:.  The wife is a little hard to make understand what some of the MC bills are for it there.  Because we can't see who's in there chat has been basically dead cause it's hard to get in only to find your by yourself[except for them other rooms that do get interesting].  I'm in there now if you wanta chat.

No idea whats goin on but I will try again later to see if maybe I missed anything but so far its a big zip on chat

Flex Error #1001: Digest mismatch with RSL http://www.everywherechat.com/framework_3.0.0.477.swf. Redeploy the matching RSL or relink your application with the matching library.

this is the error I get if that helps...
Title: Re: Temporary Chat
Post by: FinsnFur on February 27, 2011, 09:32:23 PM
Mismatched RSL's usually means Adobe caching problems. But the causes of it could literally be endless. Starting with removing programs the wrong way, or incompletely, which makes a mess of dynamically linked libraries in your computer.
I'm not even going to try to explain how all that works, but your basically verifying what I've been saying....there's something wrong on your end and I'm sure there's others that have the same mess going on.

There's millions of people using the updated chat, so we know it works fine.

If you have updated your Adobe flash player, about the only thing I can suggest at this point, would be to completely remove Adobe Flash player and then reinstall it.
If you uninstall programs from your computer by deleting them, then all bets are off, and it's too late anyway.

Nope when I uninstall I use the uninstall tool and make sure they are uninstalled correctly. I havent uninstalled anyhting for a bit so I am sure it isnt that but it could be.  It may be my flash player. I will try uninstalling it and see what that brings but I am not gona do that till I can use a high speed connection so I can down load and update everything when I reinstall it. Will let you know
