Title: P-dog rig
Post by: kevinm on December 03, 2007, 05:30:34 PM
Here is one of our weapons of choice for hunting Prairie dog

Its given name is 'The Dog Sled'.
It's 28 ft long from hitch to stairs. The shooting bench is 20ft long and 7 ft off of the ground. Plus a full length roll-over sun shade.

No more packing up to move to a new area of the field.

I can see it now, Kevin driving the truck slowly through the fields as that AR goes through rounds like there is no tomorrow.  Personally I think the AR shooter needs to be at the other end unless there is a catch bag attached.  Hey Jim, there are two seats on that sled, one for you and one for me.  AND the best part is there is NO SNOW under the sled.  Think about it.

Here's a few from a weekend when the wind was blowing about 20 to 25 and cold.

Kept it nice and warm on the inside. We used a army surplus parachute. Talk about fun to work with in that wind.
But the end result was perfect.

Im the one on the tall one standing on the front of the trailer.

Short sleeve shirts in the cold?  :wo:  That looks more like a nice fall day!  :innocentwhistle:

Either way I'd like to be one of the shooters. That is a cool rig for sure.

Is it as stable as it looks or does it shake a little?

Kevin that rig kinda looks like it may have started out as a pontoon boat trailer.

Well it wasnt a boat trailer but it did start out as a pipe trailer.

It does shake a little, but its not bad at all. We are adding two more legs under the trailer and a little more bracing on the I-beams that attach to the existing legs. This should greatly reduce any shaking.
