I want one in the worst way for my Ruger M77 MarkII, problem is I can't seem to find but only a select few that'll fit that model.

Short of forking out mega bucks for a custom, anyone got any resources or info on anyone similiar to Boyd's?

If you are willing to do the last bit of fitting and finishing, a Richards will look good.

I'm going to place an order. Man... good prices and good looking stuff.

Brad or Randy have either of you used these guys? I'm wondering if it'll be a smack together and complain later situation or what, with the barrel float.

I'll give them a call when I settle on a color. Just wondering if either of you had any first hand advice.

I liiked at those stocks and that is pretty neat. Kind of hard to choose which one you like the best cause they all look good!

I never have but I'd give them a shot if I was up for it. They look like a pretty straight operation.

If you go with them let us know how things go.

You might take a look at Boyds Gunstocks

http://www.boydboys.com/default.htm

I have one of their thumbhole stocks on a 308 and it was a pretty nice stock.  I was not all the pleased with Richards as there was a ton of work to do to finsih the stock for my 270.

Boyd's was my original plan, I really like what they have to offer. But I just couldn't justify what they expected for a lot of what they were listing.

I don't have a problem doing some finishing work as long as it doesn't turn into some major carving for the barrel or something.

Sure you are not thinking of Richards Micro Fit?  All of the boyds that I have used and helped others with were pretty much straight drop ins/  and the price was under 100 bucks for most of them.  Richards laminated stocks are much more labor intensive and cost more too.

Both of them get their blanks from the same company too.  no differences at all in the wood.

Yeah I was referring to Richards micro-fit, going from the links provided.

:madd: Well now you got me going back to the drawing board. I haven't been to Boyds for several months, but last time I was there I could find any thumbholes to fit a M77 markII.
I'll check em out again.

THO Game Calls

Hope you find one.  They had some the other night when I checked.

Both Richards and Boyds get their blanks from the same company in Vermont.  So the quality of the wood lay ups is the same.

Good luck with it.  I like the thumb hole stocks too, so much so that I have been eyeing one fo the new Remmington 1187'w whit the thumb hole stock.  They makre for a really solid feel for me when sitting.

What I can't figure out is, ok....they have a Blaster which is all 10/22. Then there's the Varminter, the Ross, and the Sporter available for Ruger.

These HAVE GOT to be stock model names. I have never heard of a Ross Ruger etc.
I found a decent Varmint Thumbhole for the Ruger but.. surely they dont think I have a............. :hahaha: Ruger Varminter?

By the time I get home from work, no one is around to answer their phone over there.:madd:
