Finally, after many moons, my original powerizer batteries that came in my FX3 just will not hold a charge anymore... :rolleye:...so i ordered 8 new powerizers with even higher output...and finally ordered a smart charger to charge them with....I use AA batteries in 3 callers and my camera and really needed a better charger then my cheapo radio shack one so i got one of these babies, fairly cheap with great reviews:

nasty-- I found some 3000maH AA batteries for $2.50 each. I'm gonna replace mine in my FX3 with those I think.  :eyebrow: :eyebrow:

Yikes! 3000 mAh, I looked all over n the highest I could find was 2900  GRRRRRRRRRRR...my batteries that came with it were 2600...what do you use for a charger?....I almost went with lithium over nimh but didnt.

HaMeR

:laf:  Locally the best I can find are 2600's.  That is what is in the caller from the factory. They are 6 or 7 years old I'm guessing. They still take & hold a charge but run time is only about 3hrs on a good day crow hunting. I used to get 6-7hrs from them. I use the FX3 charger that came with it. I'm hoping that charger will charge the 3000's properly. Guess I'll find out. I wanted the lithium also but didn't want to spring for the new charger & having to remove the batteries from the caller & putting them back in every time. For me it's a lazy thing.

Let us know if your charger does a good job on those.  Iv been running duracell rechargeables in mine but they are not lasting as long either.

Same here for the lithium haha...for serious long time crow calling it is mighty easy to rig up your FX3 with an external battery that lasts forever also:

I don't mean to jump in and hijack your thread, but the longest lasting batteries I have found are the black batteries Foxpro is selling now. I believe they are 2300mAh, but they are an extremely low self discharge battery, and have great shelf life between uses.  They hold up longer than batteries rated as 2500 or 2600mAh that I have used. I believe Foxpro sells them for about $2.00 each.  Rich Cronk reported to me that they were the best he had ever used, especially where the shelf life is concerned between uses.

Yeah I thought about the external battery too but there again it's a lazy thing for me.   Some of my crow hunts have 4-500yd walks.  One place has,, I think,, a 635yd straight line walk according to Google Earth.  :whew:

I like to lean on the hood of the big ford  while im poppin em...but for sure you cant beat just the FX3 with the AA batteries, mine have to be 5-6 years old...the only thing I found with the FX3 is i had to get a battery charger that tells me when the dang batteries are charged, seeing as just plugging in the FX3 is a hit or miss as to battery charging. My new batteries n charger are sposed to be here Monday :yoyo:

HaMeR

That is my only complaint with mine as well. Would have been nice to have a built in charge stop on the unit. Especially since every time I plug it in I forget about it.  :laf:

I like to hide in the brush & wing shoot em. Unless of course I can get one in a hay field with a rifle handy.  :eyebrow: :eyebrow:
