Hi all, Baseball season is upon us, Redsox open up in Boston on Monday. I am a die hard Sox fan and Silencer loves them Yankees.
So as we all know, Sox and Yankee fans like to trash talk each other and wish losses and sometimes worse on the other team.
Silencer and I have agreed to make a bet on the rivalry. The bet is that Silencer says that the Yankees will finish the regular season with a better record than the Redsox. I say hogwash and the Redsox will come out on top of the east.
The loser of this bet will buy a fitted hat for the winner. So I will be forced to go out in public and purchase a Yankee hat or vise versa.
This is the thread (if it is ok with Jimbo) that Silencer and I will keep track of the season and smack talk a little.
Jimbo, could you pin this thread?
Good luck Silencer, I look forward to the new hat. :highclap:
To get this thread of in the right direction:

Yep, we've made an agreement. :innocentwhistle:
now you all should have made it the loser buys the winner the hat and then has to post a video of themselves doing Jimbos happy dance on here for all to share the fun :yoyo:

I actually thought of something like that, but if you guys saw my dancing skills, you would all be jealous!
you sayin you dance better n jim :roflmao: :eyebrow:
The looser should have to post a pic of theirself wearing the winning teams hat and holding a sign saying their #1.
:nono: It's gonna be a long summer aint it? :laf:
If it ever gets here.
Lmao, I can just imagine doing the FnF rain dance with the RedSux hat on... I wanna vomit...

Jim had some pretty fly moves!! I have been workin on some new moves here in case of a dance off. I am pretty well known around these parts for my "sprinkler" and "worm" moves!!
Well I am a diehard...ahem...Mariners Fan :yoyo: I have to say that even though I consider Silencer a friend I have to join 204 with the Spankmee bashing :eyebrow: I despise that whole franchise...The good news is that my wife is a BoSox fan. Therefore I can earn some brownie points while I instigate a little bit on this thread. Gonna be a fun summer
Oh and sorry Vic :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha:
Steve
Coulter, glad to have you on board!
I also despise the Yankee organization. How about their new stadium? A clone to the original stadium but with fewer seats. Why fewer seats? Because Steinbrener got sick of hearing about how Fenway sells out every single game but his does not. Well, except when Boston comes to town. So he built a stadium with fewer seats to try to sell out and make it look like his team is as popular as Boston.
He might sell out his stadium now but it has nothing to do with popularity, any one who knows about baseball knows that Boston has a much larger fan base nation wide.

Both teams looked pretty good yesterday for the last pre-season game. I hate the Mets just as much.
QuoteThe bet is that Silencer says that the Yankees will finish the regular season with a better record than the Redsox.
Well since both teams
SUCK :innocentwhistle: I think you guys need to have a little side bet on the head to head record too. How many games between the two?? 12??
Go Red Stockings!!!! :yoyo: :yoyo:
I also believe that Redsox will come out on top of all the Yanks/Sox season series.
Well the Home opener for the Sox got rained out, and boy did it rain!
And right now the Yanks are losing to Baltimore. CC sabathia is not doing to hot......... :highclap:
WOW did sabathia crash? Yanks lost big time!
Yeah B, that looked like the same old Yanks.. the best pull the bats outta their backsides. CC had no control whatsoever.
What a day of baseball anyhow, lots of GREAT games on yesterday !!!!
You guys play the make-up game around 4 est right ? Good luck !!
ya, Boston is sposed to make up @ 4ish tonight. We will see how it goes. The thing about the Yanks is, they lose and drop weird games, then they surge and scare everyone. I am not gonna count them out until real close to the end.
C.C. Just had some stage fright, he will be O.K.
Wooohooooo Spankmees Lose :yoyo:   :yoyo:
Mariners Win :yoyo:  what a great opening day!!!
Today will be a great opening day when the Sox win.
Its snowing and I have LL practice ?? wth is up with that.....I'm not head coach but imo..... way too cold for the little ones to even pay attention
Ya, I remember LL practice and how dreary it can be. Wet grass, cold and icky.
Sox one the home opener!!!
This is no way to start the season -----------------
TEAM W L % GB
Baltimore 2 0 1.000 -
Toronto 2 1 .667 0.5
Boston 1 1 .500 1.0
Tampa Bay 1 1 .500 1.0
New York 0 2 .000 2.0
I couldn't think of any way I'd rather see :wo:  Lookin' good man, lookin' good :eyebrow:
You can hang out in the cellar with us lowly Mariner fans again this year by the looks of of our bullpen :doh2:
LOL... thanks for saving me a seat there Steve :nono:
Wow, Sox got spanked last night!! Rays have a very good starting pitcher rotation this year. Some think they are better than last year!
Funny seeing Baldelli in a Boston uniform!
Looks like we're back at the begining.. at least with our bet :laf:
Both 1 -- 2 ... :puke:

Mariners get a shutout and the bull pen actually pulls through...I was worried at the end when they put Morrow back in. I thought for sure he would blow another save...2-2 we're not quite basement fodder yet  But keep a light on for me Vic
Should be a good weekend for ball.
Yanks @ Royals Pettitte vs. Sydney Ponson tonight :eyebrownod:

Not at all Glen, no probs man :laf: cant wait to get to the new roid house this summer, from the looks of it on tv, its a walk in baseball museum.
:yoyo:
I'm a Yankee fan, I gotta take it. Just look at them RedSux, they win a couple series in 100 some years and now they're baseball legends... :roflmao:

Ok silencer I will give you that the Yanks got some great fans but noone has style like the Pirates man

B204, that was one hellova game ya had yesterday. Couldnt watch the Yankme bp cuz I wanted to see the end of your game :laf:
Steve, I'd seen that they beat the A's again :congrats:
Ive always been a Yankees fan since I was a kid...which is odd as I grew up in VT...but I think it was from reading about Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig and such....mighty impressive fellas to a young lad...my other BB heroes are Joe Dimaggio and Ted Williams....I remember listening to the older men folk talk about them like they wuz gods....GO YANKEES :yoyo:
A bit off topic but still baseball....part of my job is that I do assessments of veterans for the VA...I went n saw this old fella who was a marine in WW2...face was all blown to hell and such, looked like he was missing a cheekbone....had a big old usmc tattoo on his arm all faded..a bulldog with semper fi under it....I said to myself I bet he was a tough old SOB in his day....anyways we got to talking about the service and I had my Yankees ballcap on and he went off about the old time players and todays players...then he proudly showed me a framed jersey in his living room...of Cal Ripken, jr,....said he was some player and his other favorite modern player was Pete Rose!...cant say as I disagree with the gentlemen :yoyo:  :bowingsmilie:
that's one player I'd love to meet, Cal Jr. I've been to Camden Yards a few times but only got a Yankee autograph there. Ron Villone no less, I dont think he even plays for anyone now ??? Also got Shelly Duncan's but that was at a minors game.
QuoteSteve, I'd seen that they beat the A's again
Yup and today..Texas lost as well :yoyo: :yoyo:
After the last couple games I should let this thread fall into the gaps....
You know we won't let that happen Vic...I got your back man :eyebrow:
:hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: TEAM W L % GB
Toronto 6 2 .750 -
Baltimore 5 2 .714 0.5

Hey B204...what the heck man
Yep you gotta love when the Yankees best pitcher comes from the field. :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
Sox are playing terrible that is for sure. Toronto Always craps out as does Baltimore. It will be a Sox/Yankee show down before long.
Well they are gonna have to decide who gets control of last place you know.
 Or are they playing for the 1st pick in the draft??
:laf: :laf:
Woohooo Mariners win again in a 10 inning battle

Mariners 6-2
AJ Bernett went 7 innings before giving up a hit last night :yoyo:
WOW, never saw the Sox getting off to such a rough start. Did ya'll see the benches clear the other night in Anaheim?
I seen that, I think Abreau was scaret of Becket :roflmao:
Yankees win .....THHHHHHHHHEEE YANKEES WINNNNNNN !!!!! :bowingsmilie:
( my John Sterling impression :eyebrownod: )
Big home opener at the new roid house today :yoyo: :highclap:
The batter called time real late, Becket was ready to deliver. They are taught to not stop their arm in motion so maybe he let-er-rip to avoid injury and it went toward Bobby boy?
that is just my speculation.
6 games is a pretty rough suspention. Hopefully the appeals group will knock it down.l
B204, 6 games isnt really nothing, just one start for a pitcher with a 5 man rotation
I think you're correct about letting it rip anyhow and it got blew up into a big thing.
Yankees lost 22-4. 14 runs against them in 1 inning. OUCH
:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
Glad Wong isnt goin to start at Fenway this weekend :whew:
22-4 will happen when you have a starting pitcher with issues :rolleye: then when you go to the bull pen you put in a kid that's AA at best. I think they need to put Wong down to the minors and call up Phil Hughes, cripes he couldnt do any worse. :laf:

BIG BOSTON SERIES THIS WEEKENED !!!!!
By calling it the "Boston" series I will assume that you are inferring that Boston will whoop the Spankmees and therefore win the series...correct :eyebrownod:
Go Mariners........
Steve, I love it how yer Mariners are smackin them Rays down to the cellar for us :yoyo:
You and me both...they are surprising a lot of people this year...including me. They haven't been flawless, but I'll take what they are giving as long as they keep giving. So when do you want to jump on the band wagon? :eyebrownod:
Now yer sounding like my brother with his Atlanta Braves :nono:

Wow, sox came back to win the first game of the season against the Yanks!! NICE!
That was a GREAT GAME !!!! I fell asleep to wake up to that walk off homer :eyebrownod:
This second game I thought we had right away....... until this moment... now its 8-6 Sox.... :doh2: with lots of game left to go !!
bottom of the 6th 8-8 sox got the go ahead guys on 2nd and 3rd
I left to go do stuff with the yanks beating up Boston. Got back to see the 8-8 tie. We will see how it ends!
well even though I hate to say it GO SOX
WOW! that was a great game last night no matter what team you like!! I hope Boston can keep it going and sweep the series!!
:shck: Whoa...a nine game win streak for the Sox. Where did that come from? Oh wait...Some of it came from the Spankmees   :eyebrow: :eyebrow: :roflmao:
Go Mariners 12-6
Tonight game is on ESPN @ 8 est.
I expect everyone to watch the sweep of the Yankees! I will try to stay up to watch the entire game. Gonna be hard because I am in the middle of an 8 day stretch at work.
Gonna try staying awake as well, my long stretch w/weekend is next week. These have been the best ball games by far, one hellova series !!! :yoyo: :congrats:
On another note, my little league team shut-out their opponents 13-0 yesterday for opener :highclap:
Nice job for your little league team!
Dont believe I've seen Masterson pitch before. 23 yrs old ? his career ERA is great with a 3.16
This the pitcher with the legit 100 mph fastball ?
What a clean up I had this morning, I just put my dust-pan away. :nono: :puke: :noway: LOL
I had to shut it off to sleep around 11 last night. Another great game! Did you see Ellsbury steal home? Pettite was PISSED!
I don't think I have seen a straight out steal of home before. Hey, how sucky is Papi doing so far?
There still is alot of baseball to be played this summer!
Papi is coming around, didnt he get 2 rbi's last night ? I missed the home plate steal but listening to the am station WFAN out of NY and all the yankee fans are pizzed !!!
We have no bullpen period. IMO put Joba back in the pen, call up Phil Hughes. That would be a start, HITTING ??? Where the hell is has our BATS GONE ????
I hate to say it but A-Rod's gotta get back in the line up.
Gotta rant just a little :innocentwhistle:
Joe Girardi must read FnF, they brought up Hughes to pitch against the Tigers tomorrow. Now to get him to put Chamberlin back in the pen......
JOE LISTEN TO ME !! I'M TELLIN' YA TO PUT JOBA BACK IN THE PEN DANG-IT !!!!!
hmmm, we still have Ian Kennedy pitching at Scranton yet. Might better bring him back up as well  Cant do any worse than whats been happening
Steve, Texas is sneakin up on ya, they're onlly 2 games out now :innocentwhistle:
I know...I'm still savoring the first place position while I can. I sure hope it lasts longer than a few weeks this time  At least their doing better than fantasy league team. They all out suck! I'm looking forward to the draft tonight and getting a (hopefully) winning team together.
We haven't even played Texas yet, I'm hoping they can sweep them like they did in the first Angels series. Heck we did pretty good against Oakland too.
Steve
Red Sox are having a tough time in Cleveland. Funny how that works, sweep the NYY and then have all kinds of trouble. The steal of home plate was indeed very exciting. I was watching it in bed but couldn't clap and yell cuz I would have woke up the kids but it was still fun to watch.
My Mom is down in New Jersey on business. She is at the Phillies game right now in the luxury boxes. She texted me that it was awesome. I told her to cheer for Shane Victorino and he hit a home run!
Whoooooweee! I like my team in the fantasy League  You guys are gonna get stomped :hahaha: :hahaha:
I have to wait until late summer to see the Mariners play in Cleveland. It will be a long wait...I guess we'll just hit some minor league games in Erie until then.
Steve
:roflmao: I was just comin to brag about my Fantasy Team... :eyebrow:
1/2 of my team is the Yankees :yoyo: ( Tex, Jeter, Cano, Posada, A-Rod but on the DL )
I also got BJ Upton, Carl Crawford, Manny Ramirez Chipper Jones, Jimmy Rollins..
Can I get a HALLLL YEA !!!!!
Wow, Yankees cannot find a way to beat the redsox! I love it! :highclap:
B, the Yanks cant find a way to hit period.. lol. My fantasy team has gone to heck as well. I lost Posoda to the DL and now I just lost Manny to the 50 game suspension :doh2: :rolleye:
Ouch...what the heck did he do for that? The Mariners are fading away too and my fantasy leagues are just that - fantasy! I haven't won a game yet in the first league I joined and even with most of my tops picks in the league w/ you and B I am getting my butt kicked. I can't win anywhere :pout:<<<<<me pouting

She'd look good in pinstripes :innocentwhistle: Poor Manny. :laf:
She is not in it for the money either. When they met she was a bar tender, he asked her out and she said ok.
When he picker her up, Manny was driving a Mercedes. Don't know why he didn't take the Lambo or the largest street legal Hummer he owns. Any ways, she walked out and saw the car and said you must be a drug dealer so I won't go out with you. He said that he played baseball, she didn't believe him at first as she never heard of him. The rest i guess is history, a couple of viagra's later and she was Mrs. Ramirez.
When I got that pic I read about that, she's from Brazil.
Dang...I think I would my little soldier saluting on a daily basis too
B204, how was that Kevin Cash as a catcher ? Yankees called him up from the minors to replace Posada and Molina.
Update: A' Rod's back and goes yard first pitch first at bat :yoyo:
Been scaret and feeling too superstitious to post here, ( whispering ) psssst.. we've been doin "A" ok... Steve, I hope we helped out yer Mariners today
They're gonna need a lot more help than that Vic. They went from 1st place to 6 games behind awfully fast and no signs of regaining any of those games at this point. I guess it was fun while it lasted. Heck, I can't even win a game in our fantasy league :madd:
Hey look, the yanks are actually in first place!!! I guess Boston has to make them feel like they are a contender. It won't last long.
Oh man I hope not :rolleye:
ssssSSSSHHHHHUSH !!!! dont jinx us !!! :fingerx: :thumb2:
Come on now Mariners fan, we took 2 outta 3 from Texas, thats when you guys shoulda won a few games :)
Steve, I see you picked up Ben Zob..... you sneaky call turner !!.. I didnt see him on the market !!! dang it !!!
Great grab man !! :congrats:
I had to find a better SS than Peralta...he was okay, but just wasn't consistent. I noticed Zobrist has been playing since Iwamura got injured and they are saying he is likely done for the year. So you know...your loss is my gain  Thanks buddy
WOW! Redsox really layed a whoopin on the Yankees tonight! Back to tied for first!
Big Papi is gettin his swing back, good to see the big man smiling for a change. I was looking for him in the fantasy league, I had a feeling he'd be coming out of his slump, a player with a caliber like him wont/cant be in a slump too long.
Now the pressure is on Wong :nono: I was hopin to at least take 2, then let the Phillies finish yall off :eyebrow: :laf:
Are ya ready for this weeks match up "NancyBoy"
By the way Zobrist had a pretty good week with 38 points. :innocentwhistle:
Steve, any chance you can get in touch with KZ's Allstars ? I've been trying to make a trade deal with him for weeks, I dont think he even checks in
Perty good all-star game last night :yoyo:
Hey Vic,
Sorry just got back from vacation...I tried to make a trade with him early in the season too and so did another guy. He was in the process of moving and has not been able to keep up with his team or check in with them for that matter. He can't do it while he is at work so he has not really been in the game at all.
Trades are pretty much limited too myself (depending on who you have), NH Bombers (assuming he is still keeping up with it), Bucco Blaster, Bays Buccos, and Mooks black magic. KZ's All stars and Hawkeye3 are pretty pretty much idle as far as I know.
Unfortunately, not everybody that signed up is playing the game how it should be played. I know the guys mentioned above are still active though.
Steve
Thanks Steve, no probs. I just wanted that dang Giants pitching....lol
Any vacation pics to share with us ? or did I miss the thread
I took a few pics, but nothing really outstanding. I'll post a couple up later on tonight if I get a chance.
Steve
gotta bring this back to the front page since the season is winding down.
The Yankees clinch the division !!!!! :yahoo:
Somebody has a new Yank ees hat coming!! :laf: :laf:
I gotta get my head measured, gonna rap a string around and mark it then measure the string with a ruler. Think that'll work ?
That would be an awful looooooong string right now wouldn't it?? :roflmao: :roflmao:
