Wasp Spray - A friend who is a receptionist in a church in a high risk area was concerned about
someone coming into the office on Mondays to rob them when they were counting the collection.
She asked the local police department about using pepper spray and they recommended to her
that she get a can of wasp spray instead.

The wasp spray, they told her, can shoot up to twenty feet away and is a lot more accurate, while
with the pepper spray, they have to get too close to you and could overpower you. The wasp spray
temporarily blinds an attacker until they get to the hospital for an antidote. She keeps a can on her
desk in the office and it doesn't attract attention from people like a can of pepper spray would. She
also keeps one nearby at home for home protection. Thought this was interesting and might be of use.

On the heels of a break in and beating that left an elderly woman in Toledo dead, self defense experts
have a tip that could save your life.

Val Glinka teaches self-defense to students at Sylvania Southview High School. For decades, he's
suggested putting a can of wasp and hornet spray near your door or bed.

Glinka says, "This is better than anything I can teach them."

Glinka considers it inexpensive, easy to find, and more effective than mace or pepper spray. The cans
typically shoot 20 to 30 feet; so if someone tries to break into your home, Glinka says "spray the culprit
in the eyes." It's a tip he's given to students for decades.

It's also one he wants everyone to hear If you're looking for protection, Glinka says look to the spray.
"That's going to give you a chance to call the police; maybe get out." Maybe even save a life.

Did you also know that wasp spray will kill a snake? And a mouse! It will! Good to know, huh?
Of course it will also kill a wasp!

That's a great bit of advice, gonna send it on to my kids and also post it on to my website. Thank you.
When they come for mine they better bring theirs

I have never been sprayed by wasp spray but as one who is certified in the use of pepper spray and has used it and had it used on me to get certified I can tell you that it will definitely shut you down! Probably the reason it is used in bear spray also

^^This^^

Interesting tip and I will pass it on to my kids and my two recently married grandsons and their wives.

I have a can of slightly used wasp spray sitting on a shelf near my computer.   I should get one more and have one inside the front door and one inside the sliding door on our upper deck.

Thank you for that Nasty, guess will just keep the guns handy like always.

Well you raised an interesting question! Pretty much everything I found was negative on it. I am def not gunna spray myself and find out haha
I always carry or have near something, knife, gun, and frequently, pepper spray. In alot of cases pepper is the way to go, pretty cheap, available and works.  Those big home defense pepper spray canisters for use in the house would seem to me at night time to probably be better than a gun unless you're pretty skilled at operating a gun at night in the dark and no overpenetration of bullets and blown out ear drums. Safer and easier for women folk and young teens too.

I'll be your volunteer, Nasty. I feel safe after watching those videos.  :doh2:
Oh!...and I sold my conceal carry and spent the money on Wasp spray so now I'm really screwed anyway.
