Title: Ground Hog!
Post by: keekee on May 21, 2007, 11:34:46 PM
I had to head out to the farm Sunday to take care of a few things. I took the dogs out to get some free time as well. As soon as I got out of the truck the JR takes off and tree's a ground hog! Cool! I break out the rifle and drooped the ol bore! The dogs were real happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First ground hog I shot in a bit as well!

The young ones taste like chicken, the old ones (like this) taste like leather.  Nice looking hog.

I just don't see many around much anymore. When I was a kid all the farmers payed me to hunt them, I would hunt and shoot ground hogs every day all summer. I would set for Hrs on the creek bank bush whacking them suckers.

Now the only place I see them here is beside the road. I have seen a couple out at the farm but I never shot them. But when Rascal put that one up a tree I about had to shoot him out. Rascal would of been very us set if I would of pulled him off the tree.

You should of seen him hit that hog when he cam out of the tree! I wish I had it on video. Then I had to put him in the truck so I could keep him off of it long enough to get the pic's.

The wife's family had a old mutt that would run around in circles until the ground hog was so dizzy it would fall over. It was the dangest thing I've ever seen. By the time it was done the ground hog was tits up.
