It is used on wood products. Spoke shaves have two handles. Sorry for the slow response. Been having computer issues.

This is a folding timber scribe.. There are other models that don't fold. These were used to mark the joints when making a timber frame barn. Sections could be made a distance from the building site and this made assembly easier. The blade looks a bit like a scoop to cut the symbols into the wood.
