That in the 50's you could buy a car right from the old Sears catalog for around $1500.00 bills

Allstate was marketed exclusively through Sears & Roebuck
it was limited to stores in the southern states who also carried auto products
this infuriated Kaiser-Frazer dealers who had to sell a similar model,
(the Henry J) for more money and less standard equipment

Trivia note: Sear's hung on to this name and later sold Insurance under it. (Allstate Insurance  :eyebrownod: )

With so much conflict surrounding this car
Kaiser redesigns the Henry J and renames it a Corsair
Sears continues to sell the old style under the Allstate name

"Did you know? ...or do you remember?"
Guess not?

There was/is a house back home that was ordered from a Sears catalog.

FinsnFur

Seriously?
I never heard that but it's kinda cool and funny to look back on.

Many houses sold by sears.  Chickens too .  At one time you could get it all through sears and the mail.  I wonder if they sent the car out by train too, cause that's how the houses showed up.
I say what I think not think what I say.

What'd they do?...come in a kit?...or were they all snapped together like a modular?

They showed up out here in 1917 on a flat bed or box car.  Pre cut boards and you put it together.  Beautiful old houses.  A lot of them had pocket doors that were just awesome.

Or were you talking about the chickens .  They came as a chick

I use to buy chicks from Sears, can't remember the price but they must of been pretty cheap as I didn't have a lot of money back then.
When they come for mine they better bring theirs

I have a JC Higgins .22 lr. JC Higgins are pretty common firearms from the Sears catalogue.
sometimes I wonder....is that getting closer..... then it hits me

I had a personal conflict the other day, now I'm not speaking to myself.... I'm getting lonesome

I met the girl of my dreams, I was the man of her dreams too.....she used the term "nightmares" though.
