There seems to be some confusing hype about tags for those who lost the draw, being available for over the counter sales. 54,000 of them infact.

A recent headline mentioned 54,000 Elk and Mule Deer tags left over after the draw, which will be for sale.
Another mentioned the Colorado DOW predicts 54,000 tags to be left over.

I got a buddy trying to obtain one of these tags after losing the draw, and so far without any luck.

Either the folks publishing that information just came off a weekend bender or...these tags are for residence only...no one knows yet.
